"We came here as a large group for our last night in VT. Food was pricey - I paid 25 euros for my main. I went for the beef on the hot rock and I'd probably say that, given the prices everywhere in VT, it was more worthwhile. You don't see too many restaurants that still do this and it's one of my favourite ways to eat! The steak wasn't too thick but it was still very tender. However, WARNING. My friend had the mixed grill at around 4 euros more and I'm not sure if I'd recommend it due to the raw chicken - you aren't given anything special to place it on the rock so essentially you are using a fork to put raw chicken on the plate and then the same fork to eat a cooked piece with. Not exactly hygienic."

A very good menu and the food was delicious. Service left a bit to be desired. Typical grumpy French Waitress.

Terrible! the team at the top of the summit, excellent savoyard dishes and a very good atmosphere to the boobs of the restaurant.

very friendly reception, the staff smiles and comes. We tasted their raclette and melted. Very well served. Nothing was missing. A trick. mandatory reservation as well as the multi layer it gives hot a raclette.

We ate very well twice in this restaurant (focus and raclette.) only regret waitresses whose smile does not exist at all and the lack of glazing seal for wine (which warms up very quickly on a table of two in the presence of a raclette)! correct prices

It was snowing when we arrived at La Chaumiere and it was just starting to get busy. We didn't have a booking, but the waiter was very helpful in trying to fit us (6) into the restaurant and he was prompt with our drinks! Our meals - pizzas, calzone and Pasta Carbonara - all very good, but the appetizer of Garlic Bread was very dry as if prepared too early for service. Good portions, as enough pizza for breakfast the next day!

We were 5 families who have eaten out every lunch and dinner during this holiday. If all other venues were a 2-3* then La Chaumiere was a clear 5* winner. The atmosphere was cosy, the service friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely amazing. To top it off it was very reasonably priced. We ended up coming back for dinner twice (once adults only and once with children) and it was consistently good both times. This is the place to book for you holiday - guaranteed or your money back!!

We had a fantastic meal here! The meal itself was one of our favourites whilst visiting Val Thorens, high quality with an extensive authentic choice. Would highly recommend the steak with fois gras but all dishes we ate were amazing!! The restaurant itself was also lovely and quaint! The only reason I have not rated this a 5* is purely down to the staff, unfortunately they were quite rude and unwelcoming! Service was slow, and when ordering anything it seemed like a chore for them! However, the food was still worth the experience!! A must visit for the food alone!!

I am not someone who complains about restaurants as all my previous reviews will show but the service in this particular restaurant was frankly - rude. The staff never smiled ...not once...and everything was a huge inconvenience to the lady who served us, you could read it on her face. We didn't feel in the least bit wanted in fact we felt we were in the way. I can't fault the food. Each of our meals were delicious but the food was marred by the lack of care and bad manners of the staff. We are not "needy people" but what we paid for our meal and drinks was worthy of a thank you at least. We won't go back next year.

"A friend hurt himself on the slopes after a ski accident so we thought we’d go for lunch to soften the blow. We have been skiing in St Martin for 20 years and have driven past the restaurant many times saying we should go. Anyway today we did. Before I comment, I have been lucky enough to go to many beautiful Michelin restaurants. We ordered the 5 dish set menu. By the time we had finished , I’m not sure how many courses we had as they just kept on coming. As regards what was served, it was utterly stunning. I have eaten at Gavroche for 25 years (which I love) and the food served was simply awesome. Oysters, sweetbread, asparagus, a fish I can’t remember. ….. everything was lovely I love eating and drinking in a restaurant with a passion for both and this place simply sang. In short, one of the best lunches I have ever had and all I can say is that it was simply excellent. . Yes it is expensive but the biggest compliment I can give this restaurant is that it is well worth it. 5 stars all the way. Service was also excellent with enthusiastic young staff delivering a service to rival London’s best. One comment. The wine list is a thing of beauty but the pricing is hit and miss. The pricing is a bit expensive but with some well priced wines. If you know what you are doing then you can have some lovely wine at a good price but I’d prefer if the pricing was reduced a little so all can enjoy what is a lovely wine list. As regards our lunch, 5 stars. It was simply stunning and the owner came to say hello at the end of the meal: an Arsenal fan we all have our issues Food with love, integrity and passion and I am a conservative judge. Simply lovely. I hope others have the same experience and well done to all involved as I’m not easily pleased."
