"First observations: Gorgeous old building with some open air and conservatory style additions. Friendly, attentive service. Fairly small, but varied menu. For our lunch we were offered the special starter of sardines and their wine of the day. We went for the wine, a lovely...white Burgundy, which perfectly complimented my starter of home smoke salmon salad. Mrs Express went for the Foie Gras. Both were excellent with a great small salad, with assorted beets and micro herbs on the side, and the Foe Gras was also excellent. 5 stars each. My main of monkfish wrapped in bacon was very good, nice balance of fresh and salty with a nice tower of roasted summer veg and a lovely champagne sauce. But the fried risotto 'squares ' didn 't taste of much other than fried breadcrumbs and were a disappointment. 4 stars. Mrs E 's beef fillet was superb though. Beautifully flavoured beef, amazing beef jus, lovely baby roast potatoes and a generous smeer of pureed root veg. An absolute triumph worth of a much more expensive restaurant. Deserts were very good; a perfectly 'tart ' ie not too sweet, lemon meringue 'pie ' with lemon sorbet was really tasty and the ice cream in a sugar bowl with cream, chocolate sauce and fruit also lovely. One small criticism was the bread served with the starters was stale, and not even a home baked roll that I would have expected in such a good restaurant. All in all, for a little over 100 EUR (we only had the bottle of wine to drink) and tap water, we both felt this a very fair price for the standard of food and setting."

Another fantastic meal. Chef David will be added to his presentation and great cooking skills. The whole experience could not be ignored by greeting and service to the attention to detail. The menu offers traditional marachine dishes as well as traditional....The Aale and Steaks are excellent. We have often dined here and hope to do this again

For dinner, nice building, friendly welcome, restaurant a bit too bright illuminated for a romantic dinner, chose both the set menus, each one, my special raw sardine starter was a relaxed, no taste in my opinion but the steak and fish we had...as a net were very good, not sure about the curly milk dessert, pretty land, Crem brûlés was quite brilliant,

Eight English golfers turn into your restaurant and you ask yourself “what have you been in?” Well, once we were very well treated and the food was quite extraordinary. Our host, the common owner, was so beautiful and recommended various wines as...beatmet. The atmosphere in this amazing building was wonderful and we had no hesitating return to the future. Thank you for a nice evening and good luck in the future. Your English golf friends!

If you’re looking for a place away from all the campsites, pizzerias and creperies, then this is your place to be. If you did not value French and local food yet, you will after being here. Besides the gorgeous food and wines (Go France! , Kathleen...and her team provide great hospitality. When something went wrong with one of our dishes, they made up for it big time. This is how you treat your guests, many places can learn from that. Thanks for a supernice evening!

Excellent food and very helpful staff for those of us whose French may be good enough to buy beer and croissants but not to navigate the details of a gourmet-friendly menu. Being well out of town, this restaurant is particularly convenient if you're staying in...one of the campsites within walking distance, such as Camping aux Coeurs Vendeens, Les Places Dorees, Les Amiaux or L'Abri des Pins. The local wines on offer (among others) make it well worth leaving the car behind!

We popped in here without a reservation at lunch time. It's an old thatched building just out of town. Soon after we arrived the place became full of French diners. The menu was interesting and the food was beautifully presented. We shared a starter of...marinated sardines from St Gilles very tasty then I had a perfectly cooked fish fillet whilst my partner had the duck confit which was very tasty. My creme brulee was excellent. The ladies who served us were very helpful and spoke English much better than my French! Price is good for the quality of the food. We'll definitely come again.

We arrived at the nearby Daviere Plage campsite after 6 hours. The site's own place was somewhat too sticky for our taste, so a short visit to La Quich'notte was rewarded with a reservation for... later in the evening. Worth the trip (almost! alone). I enjoyed a great foie gras terrine and my wife some marinated sardines. We had both Roulé de lotte au jambon de Vendée, risotto pané et crème de langoustines for the main course. I can't tell you how good the Crème de Langoustines was: grandiose sauce. With dessert and a good bottle of white was a total of €130. Not bad and the service was impeccable.

We went here for a meal on the last night of our holiday last Saturday. We had such a gorgeous meal and the staff were so friendly with our children we were really sorry we'd left it until or last night to go there. If...we had gone earlier in our holiday we definitely would have gone back there more than once. The chicken for the children was the best quality we had anywhere. Our own meals were stunning. I had the monkfish and it was beautiful. It was the most expensive meal of our holiday but also the best by far. The desserts were also chocolatey, rich and delicious. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
