"I had not intended eating out as I had had a decent and large picnic. It was the weekend of the Circuit des Remparts so every where was packed. The 'Bistroc' was equally busy but I saw rognons de veau on the menu ('Carte') so I asked if they could serve me. They said there would be a long delay but I could sit at the bar and have a drink if I didn't mind waiting. As I had time on my hands I was quite content to sit with a beer reading a book. Eventually after half an hour i was approached by one of the two (I presume ) owners and asked if I had ordered. I said not and he proclaimed himself 'desolee' taking my order. 10 or 15 minutes later I was presented with a magnificent steak - I think a cote de beouf - which I would have readily tucked into. Sadly not what I had ordered. More apologies and eventually the rognons de veau arrived. Nicely cooked, no sauce but good 'frites' and salad. I completed the meal with cafe gourmand, not spectacular but perfectly acceptable. When the bill arived they did not charge me for either my beer or the wine with my meal - quite unnecessary but hey insisted. This place is an old fashioned grill with great atmosphere - aided or hindered by two children of one or both of the patron(ne)s who raced around the place chasing each other and flirting with custommers. High quality food unpretentiously cooked. although I concede not cheap.Despite being rushed off their feet the two front of house staff I assume, the owners made every possible effort to make the cusommmers welcome.A very enjoyable evening."

This is the place in Angoulême for large groups! As a vegetarian I eat well here.

Charming owners. Limited choice and a la carte only. Huge expensive entrocote not cooked as ordered. Wines offered was a limited choice but not overly expensive.

Frequented by local business people which is always a good sign. They have a fixed price lunch menu which is good value, or a good variety of other dishes. Attentive and friendly service, even though they were very busy, I strongly recommend the goats cheese salad which was stunning View menu

We went as a group of 8 for lunch and really enjoyed our meal. The place isn't big,but the food was excellent and the service friendly..the restaurant is in the warren of pedestrian streets in the city centre, but there is parking nearby.Lunchtime prix fixe menu first rate[but portions huge!]

It doesn't look much and there was plenty of space on a Saturday night which isn't always a good sign but on this occasion this was a great find. We decided on French tapas - big portions of salami, hams, duck, Camembert and the inevitable Fois Gras. All very good washed down by a good Rose. Recommended.

Having eaten here several times in the past, some time ago, we revisited today in a party of 8 and had a wonderful meal. All but one chose the formula meal with either entree + plat + coffee OR plat+ dessert + coffee. Two bottles of wine (the Verrieres at 18 euros - is excellent value, particularly the red), an extra coffee or two and a dessert extra as well, I had the Bistroc burger (comes with a large lsice of foie gras on top) and our bill worked out at 20 euros a head. Everything cooked as requested and excellent quality. Efficiently served, all the meals arrived tigether. Can't fault it. Great atmosphere. View menu

Order to take around 100 euros of good dishes. Some flats, no commercial gesture to replace a dessert with a lassi, damage... Quality/Quantity/price ratio good( menu entry flat dessert and naan to 23 euros) but nan nature packed with naans cheese so bad surprise at the opening. Scented dish, except rice that has nothing to do with a good Indian restaurant rice. Carbonized and beef chicken bite too cooked despite a scent and very interesting flavors. The servers also spoke in a language that is incomprehensible to us, which is quite disturbing. Too bad because the restaurant has potential, but a service that is not unbelievable and spoils pleasure and atmosphere.

Having not booked, we were lucky to get an outside table at this small restaurant and even though it was cool and damp out, we survived. There wasn't a set menu which is always a problem as the bills tend to get rather large. Their cheapest wine was expensive at €26 a bottle. We started with a dish of baked eggs with foie gras - absolutely to die for and with its calories and cholestorol, we probably will! On Madame's recommendation, we all ordered steaks in various states of cookedness for main courses and when they arrived, they were all huge, and raw. Actually, that's how I like my steak so some of of dug in but were defeated by the size! I took more than half of mine away with me. A coup...
