"My wife and I became hopelessly addicted to L'Escale during a recent stay in the Barboleuse area. Have we had finer dining experiences? Certainly. Better service? Probably. Better food? I think so. I do not think that we have ever experienced more predictably excellent food and service in a predictably charming atmosphere however. Rafael is the man that makes this happen. Whether our choice was a full meal steak or late evening pizza, an ice cream dessert, or just popping in for a cup of hot cocoa, we knew that we would be smiling when we departed. Many thanks for helping make our brief stay in your charming village a memorable one. Rest assured that we will be forced to return sooner than we anticipated in order to indulge our newborn craving for L'Escale."

One of the best pizza and the grande bier is cold and lovely. Family run and friendly. Always good for rugby fans with the owner always keen to have french and six nation games on. Wonderful.

Have visited a few times during the past winter and never been disappointed. Great friendly service, a super menu with a lot of choice and good value. We've ordered various dishes including pizza, pasta, fish, salads, meat and it's always been great. View menu

I have been here many times over the years and this place never ceases to deliver. Wonderful people, great food, superb ambience. Where else would you want to be ?I thoroughly recommend that you make a beeline, regardless of whether you're skiing / walking in the locality. Top stuff. Wouldn't be out of place in Mayfair. Recommend. View menu

Everytime we come to Barboleuse we come here for a meal. I decided to try something new as I already knew the pizzas were great. I chose the pasta aglio e olio which was tagliatelle with olive oil, garlic and chilli. It was delicious but very spicy. My father had the Italian twist on the steak tartare with chips and loved it (it had basil and partisan cheese.) The prices are reasonable. We would recommend eating here if you visit the villars gryon area.

I've been coming here ever since I was little and it just keeps getting better and better. Charlie owns the place and he's very nice. The pizzas are to die for .thin yet soft, exactly like the traditional Italian pizzas. They are lso very light and left me enough room to try their desserts. They are made fresh on site in a pizza oven. They even catered for my dairy free needs and made a pizza without cheese. I would recommend their icecreams and sorbets for pudding which they are exceptionally good at (especially their fresh Valais apricot sorbet with actual real apricot chunks in it!)

"It was raining cats and dogs as we drove up to Les Posses from Bex in search of Chez Mantisi. The clouds hung low and the mountains remained invisible. The restaurant was perched high on a mountain top, and we were pleased to see a...large parking area. We walked through the door into the warm cheery welcome of a Bonjour! from the owner, as she led us to our table. For the rest of the evening we could hear her husband burst into loud song as he cooked in the kitchen. We were convinced a chef as happy as he was would present us with delicious food and we weren't wrong! We were celebrating a special occasion and although the stunning views played hide and seek with the clouds, we were happy to be snug and dry in the little restaurant cum hotel, all done up in dark wood and plush red furnishings. The menu was simple. I had a Gnocchi ai Gemelli from the list of the Chef's Recommendations and husband had Ravioles de Loup de Mer, Pesto rosso et Bisque de Homard. Unbelievably delicious. Portions were huge and I had to ask for a doggy bag to take home half the gnocchi. We shared a delectable, if unusual Tiramisu of generous proportions (it had kiwi fruit hiding in the bottom of the glass). DInner was of course washed down with a glass of vino rosso! The price was not the cheapest we have known, but the service was a delight and the evening memorable. As we braved the pouring rain to get back into the trusted chariot we decided we'd definitely be back on a day when the sky was bright blue instead of dark gray. My advice: worth making a special trip to this excellent restaurant"
