"I recently attended a Christmas dinner and entertainment event with a group of 14 on December 7th and I was very disappointed with the experience. We arrived at 7pm, before many other tables were occupied, but ended up being served last. The traditional dinner we had included turkey, stuffing, sausages, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and only one Brussels sprout. It seemed like the kitchen had run out of Brussels sprouts by the time they got to our table. The starter was prawns in a very orange sauce, served with a sprinkle of cress on a slice of wheaten bread, which was not very impressive. The tables were not cleared for a considerable amount of time after we finished eating. When I went to the restroom for about 10-12 minutes, I returned to find that coffee had been served and all the cups cleared, which seemed miraculous. Considering the cost of £40 per person, I felt like I was robbed. On a positive note, I have visited the Stables Restaurant in Groomsport before, where I had a three-course meal and entertainment in the Gordon Suite for £25 (now £27), which I believe is still excellent value for money. The service at Stables Restaurant is exemplary and the meals are excellent."

The restaurant offers a fantastic dinner with generous portions and a great selection. Arrive before 6pm to enjoy a three-course meal for under 20gbp. The atmosphere is comfortable and the service is excellent.

we had christmas at nelson’s restaurant on Saturday night. I asked the cook if it was possible to have another vegetarian option on the dish on the menu. I was made an absolutely beautiful dinner and it was by far the best vegetarian Christmas dinner I ever had. many thanks to <3

Called in here for a meal late afternoon on a Sunday. Ordered the roast beef dinner and my partner had the chicken. The service was very friendly and the meals were very tasty and plentiful and very reasonably priced. The internal decor is looking a bit tired in the upstairs restaurant, hence the rating.

what a delicious meal we had yesterday at cathy and Andy’s wedding. melt in mouth meat, yorkshire pudding and gravy with the most generous part of kartoffels and vegetables I have ever been served in a recipe. the staff was all fabulous and so helpful when I delivered the high-time cake without having too much annoying.

The food at this restaurant was terrible and the dining conditions were freezing. The fish cake was the worst looking and tasting I have ever had, followed by cold mushrooms, cold steak, and soggy garlic fries. My wife's Eton Mess dessert was rock solid and served in a wine glass that was difficult to eat from. We were guests at a birthday party so we couldn't complain, but our friend noticed the poor quality of the food.
