Loved this place, been tonight and and was told there is a new menu! Very disappointed in choice of menu and food quality! No where near as good as previous! There was only 6 tacos to choose from and 1 was off menu! As a longtime customer of Mexico 70, I am disappointed to leave a negative review. The Taco menu has been reduced to only 6 options, with no consideration for vegan choices. The loaded fries are no longer available, replaced by bland and dry tatertots. Overall, it was a big letdown. Unfortunately, change is not always for the better. The service was satisfactory, with a rating of 5 out of 10. The atmosphere was decent, with a rating of 4 out of 10. The cost per person for dinner was between £20-30.

I have dined at this restaurant several times over the years, most recently just a couple of nights ago. The food and cocktails were excellent. My partner and I ordered 4 tacos, the vegan fries, and two sides to share. I highly recommend Mexico 70 for their vegan options. They offer a good selection of dishes, it is located in the city center, and the prices are reasonable. Definitely a great choice! I suggest making a reservation, especially if there is a show at the nearby theater as it can get very crowded.

We went to Mexico 70 one evening before going to the football at the Stadium of Light. It's a nice small restaurant, but it's best to make a reservation as it doesn't have too many tables. What stands out about this place is the wide range of vegan options available - half of the tacos and three quarters of the side dishes are vegan. This is quite a rare find in meat-loving Sunderland! The menu has recently been updated, so some items mentioned in older reviews may not be available anymore. Unfortunately, they no longer have loaded fries, but there are still some tasty options to choose from.
