"We left without eating our food. We had to sit in the main restaurant area as the Momo area wasn’t open not a problem at all and actually the atmosphere is lovely. The only bad thing was the music choice, it didn’t match the environment or ambiance at all. I think they were playing pop or something similar when really they should have chosen something that matched the restaurant. I was disappointed in the menu, it was a very small limited menu. I love ramen I have travelled the world tasting different ramen’s and this is by far the worst. First of all they didn’t have the protein advertised on the menu (can’t remember what it is now) and they offered me salmon instead which I wasn’t a fan of since I like traditional ramen. This was the first red sign for me. I asked them is that the only option, they said they can do chicken. Perfect. When the food arrives I was so disappointed. It was like an English pub take on ramen. If you know what I mean by that then you understand that the ramen was poor quality with little taste. I asked for chicken and the waitress informed me that they could do the ramen with chicken nuggets. Chicken nuggets!! I was literally in disbelief, what Japanese cuisine restaurant offers chicken nuggets with ramen. I said no to that, then the waitress went to talk to the chefs. She came back and said they can do roast chicken. I was quite apprehensive but said okay. It was SO tender and chewy I couldn’t eat it. With each mouthful I was regretting eating at all so I decided to not eat it and asked for it to be taken off the bill. My mother ordered a burger (not the Momo menu) and the beef was so dry she didn’t eat it. And my sister ordered a rice and chicken dish, which again seemed like an English take on the Japanese cuisine. They just poured so much sauce over her rice that it was all gooey and horrible to eat. She also didn’t eat her meal. We left leaving three means uneaten and went to a different Japanese place in Shrewsbury."

we went to the peach tree earlier in the week and loved the atmosphere of momos and felt very warm and welcome. i went with my husband and we both loved the food. Our waiter Jack was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu helping us understand some of the unfamiliar words. We will beck again and thank you to the peach tree team as usual

We popped in bank holiday Monday on the off chance we could get a table, we were greeted and looked after by our young waiter Jack, he was very pleasant and attentive. Starters and Main Course were very good with lots of flavour and was plentiful. We couldn't manage a dessert. The restaurant itself is lovely, wish it was warmer as they had a lovely roof terrace, I loved the wood beams, it had a lovely feel to it. We will be sure to visit more often

Tried sushi of the day, bland stuff, had better from a supermarket. The 2 different mains , mother& son chicken was served on a bed of flavourless rice and the crispy duck with noodles with an oily sauce containing questionable crunchy bits of berries and beans. Also the duck leg was overcooked, a marathon of chewing! Poor service all round. Waitress had little product knowledge, no one checked on us during the meal and were told when we eventually complained that no one else had complained! Very poor.

This restaurant was not called what we expected. There was no shop front with Momo no ki on the sign. On the street was a pub/bar and its only from this site we asked about the noodle bar. The building was lovely, very old and characterful. We were sent upstairs and told there are two menus. Confusing if you walk in off the street and no menu online anywhere. However we both ordered ramen from the short menu given to us. It was hot, tasty and plentiful. No space for pudding either. Just needs more signage and publicity!

Very lucky yo have this place in Shrewsbury and it is a credit to the food scene of the town. The food is excellent ramen with all the trimmings and tasys af! Having travelled around Japan recently, it definitely compares. The starters and other menu items were really good especially the pork bites with cucumber they were so moreish! 4* for service as strangely no drink menu (only wine menu). Decor and atmosphere was also nice! Appropriately japanese/Asian without trying too hard or losing the fact that the restaurant is in an old English building.

Deceiving. Not a ramen restaurant, with only one ramen option. The ramen cost £20, and it was of poor quality. It tasted a bit artificial and was tomatoey. The bao bun pork belly was difficult to eat and had sriracha sauce covering the entire bun. The service was all over the place. All nice guys, but we had 4-5 different people serving us, the staff was dispersed across 3 different restaurant areas. Confusing location. The atmosphere was actually nice inside but from the outside we couldn’t even tell that the MOMO restaurant was open, we were about to leave when we noticed the logo appended on the very top window of the building. Basically it’s a restaurant area with pub, Japanese and maybe...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
