"Aside from the loud child, which the owners couldn't control and was quite bothersome, I found the service to be lacking. I wasn't informed about the specials board, which was disappointing. I opted for the leek and potato soup, but it seemed to be made with the green parts of the leek, given its color. It had been pureed, so I couldn't identify its ingredients, and honestly, the taste was so overpowering that I couldn't finish it. If I had known about the specials, I might have chosen something more appealing. The waiter was cheerful, but the other staff members I encountered appeared indifferent. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. As for parking, there's no nearby parking unless you have a blue badge; otherwise, you're left to chance when it comes to finding one of the few street spaces in the area."

Great value for a hearty breakfast! I dined in and found the meal to be quite satisfying. The price per person ranged from £10 to £20, which is reasonable for what you get. I’d rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at 4 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the English Breakfast!

Typical breakfast/brunch/lunch café with plenty of choice. Roast dinners were also available when we visited on a Wednesday. Everywhere was clean. Our food was excellent. The portions are quite large and smaller sized meals are available I don 't know if they reduce the price of them as I didn 't get the bill this time! I don 't believe they have an alcohol licence. Beware the plates are screaming hot and will keep your meal hot until the end, when they say don 't touch the plates don 't... Parking: As this is a high street shop, you have to park in any of the nearby car parks. View menu

I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Mortimer's in Herne Bay for saving our Mother’s Day! After we had a reservation at another restaurant for 2:30 PM, they had to cancel on us at 2 PM due to unforeseen circumstances. While we understood that such things can happen, we were left in a tight spot. Thankfully, a quick call to Mortimer's changed everything. They accommodated us with excellent service and served the most delicious fried dinners and crispy puddings! Thank you so much to Richard, Chloe, and the rest of the team for making our day special. Happy Mother’s Day to all! x

I received a warm welcome upon arrival, and I appreciated having the option to choose where to sit. The menu offered a fantastic selection, and the atmosphere was comfortable and casual. The staff were kind and attentive, which added to the place's evident popularity. I noticed a waiter even brought scissors to help an elderly couple open some difficult sachets. People were calling ahead to make reservations, which speaks volumes. I will definitely be returning and have already recommended this place to others. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I usually don’t write reviews, but this one is well-deserved. Thank you!

"I used to come here regularly, however on the last visit I noticed something massively with the way it was run both in terms of the food quality and the service levels. We came in as a group of 4 adults and 3 toddlers. Ordered coffees and a few burgers and some prawns on toast. For the most part, the food was good except for 2 of the burgers which were far too overcooked and the guys who ordered ended up only being able to eat a few bites out of them. We informed the waitress who was clearing the table about this. When we went to pay, we said to the waitress at the till that we thought that the 2 burgers should be taken off the bill as they weren’t eaten (the total bill would have still come to over £80) The waitress then went straight to the manager who came over to ask what the problem was. When we told him we were given a response of “well, I’ve had the food here and I can tell you that it’s incredible”. When we said that the burgers were far too overcooked (one beef and one chicken burger) he just said that the chicken has to be cooked through. After arguing that it was just too overcooked and dry, he simply walked away and told the waitress only to remove one of the burgers. I’m not usually one to give poor reviews, but the attitude of the manage alone was completely unacceptable. Having worked in catering and customer service, it is your responsibility to listen to the feedback of your customers, and not to be arrogant or rude. I do hope that no one else is unlucky enough to be faced with this kind of situation, but this was enough for all of us to never return to this place."
