"Coffee shop and restaurant Cakes used to be great here but no more clearly a cash n carry powder mix or similar is used in general the round sponge cakes may as well be a Betty Crocker which is fine if I weren’t expecting homemade , the banana tray bake with the thick frosting no substance whatsoever to that sponge and there’s an aftertaste that you don’t get with real homemade cakes . Maybe they can get away with calling it homemade if they have to add ingredients to powder mix and bake but it tastes in the product . A change of supplier to someone that can cook properly and it shows in their product . In general meals are ok can be very sparse on garnish and microwave pinging is far to often as hot spots appear in meals such as Mac n cheese and becomes inedible yet still served . Glasses and cutlery need to be more rigorously checked as these are often dirty . Also better choices needed for soft drinks . The soups they serve are lovely . Painis are in reality just a squashed in toasty maker baguette so that’s disappointing , they do have a good selection of sandwiches ,wraps and fillings , a little more salad on side would be better as they are not cheap in price . Scones not a great deal of flavour here I’d suggest adding cayenne to the cheese ones and maybe add some Parmesan to the mix to give richer flavour . Dry fruit scones . Staff in restaurant are very good coping very well with new rules for Covid . Clientele are mixed, a lot of older people in particular . Garden centreGreat little gift shop area with unusual greetings cards once you get past the expensive traps as you walk in . Seem to if put are far amount of glass in there for extortionate prices most of which I’ve seen in shops such as tkmaxx for a fraction of the cost . Plants on the expensive side and alot of which do not last long when they get home . Shoe shop in a garden center WHY ? Never seen anyone in there and the poor till person is always looking out desperately at you as you walk past . The expensive designer interior items on opposite side of shoe shop area has anything here ever sold ? What a waste of floor space . Parking is usually good plenty of space and once again staff are very helpful and will always bring items out to car for you . It’s just my opinion of the place it’s sometimes very good sometimes not so"

A very nice cafe that we visit quite often for either coffee and cakes or lunch whilst getting something from the garden centre.. Can be quite busy. Good selection of cakes if you get here early) and good lunch menu.

Very handy if you are camping at the Old Vicarage campsite as the garden centre is a short walk away across a field. Handy for a short walk to get a decent coffee (and sit in the coffee shop if you need some respite from the rain! and to stock up on good local cheese from the deli.

Visited with family and always had a nice sandwich or a cake but we had a meal today from specials board which wasn’t great. Had a burger and it tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. Pretty dry and burnt around the edges. The staff are lovely. Polite and helpful. It won’t stop me going back as it has always been really nice. I’m sure this was just a one off

Lovely little Centre with little indie shops. We had planned to stay for tea and cake. My daughter is Coeliac and very fussy so despite the HUGE delicious looking Gluten Free Black Forest Gateau we didn't stay to eat (I was offered something to be made up with gluten free bread too so they are well adapted to GF). We tool our two dogs around the garden centre too with no fuss or bother.

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
