"I was having a nice evening until I was faced with a surprise compulsory service charge of £12.50. I am not here to pay your staff wages, this is not America. I would’ve tipped £15 but the fact that is compulsory has put me off coming back to this restaurant ever again.. the absolute cheek of it. Some restaurants are trying to get you to pay for this staff wages as they do in America do not accept this in this country. The service charge by law has to be advertised clearly before your meal. Or you can refuse to pay it. We just paid it and left. It’s a pity because we had a good meal and the staff were friendly. I was so angry at being forced to make a payment. Nice restaurant with a really friendly owner/manager. I wish I could be kinder about the food. The pappadums were, if not stale, certainly not fresh, and the quality of the chicken was very poor.
