"The curries at this restaurant have improved since our last visit when it was known as Nawaab. The curry is now thicker, more flavorful, and less oily. The starters were good, but the daal has changed and I preferred the old version. The old daal was the highlight of my visits during the Nawaab days. Now, the highlight is the curries with Merzee. The lamb chops were also much better - moist and flavorful. I didn't experience any digestive issues or nausea after eating, which I had previously when it was Nawaab. I used to dislike the watery, oily, and bland curries they served. The only downside is that popadoms are now charged for, which seemed cheeky at £26 per person plus the cost of drinks, especially since it is supposed to be a buffet. It was nice to visit one last time since the changes, but I won't be returning due to the price."

Food was undercooked. The grilled wings had dried blood in them. Felt sick after after that. Rest of the starters were dry. Chicken masala tasted awful. Never again. Merzee gone down hill.

The food was undercooked and the management was poor, making it the worst dining experience ever. The buffets were empty and the starters were dried out. It used to be a nice place to dine when it was Royal Nawaabs, but Merzee has gone downhill. View menu

What a stunning place, the entrance hall looks like a 5 star hotel. I am far from an Indian expert but there were so many choices it was great. Wasnt too amused with the tikka masala but the rest was delicious. Please bare in mind if you go that there is no alcohol being served.

Normally only like the stake and fish pakoras they was full of oil and very small amounts left to pick they didn’t refill and the stake wen I asked for two pieces I was told no it’s only 1 per customer to start with it was a small piece ridiculous as that’s the only thing I had save your money your better off somewhere else

I visited this restaurant with my family and was disappointed by the poor management. They did not take care of us and even took the food left over from a booked wedding for their downstairs buffet. They were quick to take our money but are unwilling to provide any reimbursement. The management has refused to address or respond to this issue, making the overall experience very poor. View menu

We had big party here and told when booked any person not come we pack food to take home. On the day more than 60 people not come in the party. We been given food of 5 person to take home. While party going on they took our food down stairs to sell in buffet. When asked management for explination no one wants speak about it. Rang so many times no answer. Please do not book any party here as they rob you.

The people in the management is worst I have ever seen. I had Booking 290 people and been told left over food will be packed to take home. On the event day due to very rainy and bad weather, we had over 50 to 60 person not turned up. We expected lots of leftover food as we had lots of people not come. When got home, I was surprised to see only got chicken and meat not even enough for 5 person. I rang next day asked what happened. They said some one call back so far no one have. I have spoken to nearly all staff in the management and called every days over 10 days so far no answer. The people in this management are very unprofessional . I would people think twice before you book here. They do...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"First of all let me say a positive, the only positive- Taylor our server was Brilliant, so polite friendly and excellent at his job ABSOLUTE RIP OFF, they only care about your money this place the food is so vile I couldn't eat much, meat was terrible. I'm a person who like to order at the bar, So I went upto the bar and tried to order to none alcoholic cocktails approx 11.80 on menu, I was told server will bring it over looked at Bill when he did, 13.00 I told him take that service charge off , absolutely disgusting they don't want you to order at bar so they squeeze a few extra pound out of you everytime you order a drink it's not the it's the principle) After meals in next room ,another service charge added on bill of 17, it's a disgrace and leaves a bad taste in my mouth , as if the place isn't expensive enough.. I would of definitely left a 20 tip for Taylor anyway as he was excellent but to be forced to do it in a restaurant that is already ripping you off in a cost of living crisis just shows you what this restaurant is all about. It'd 52 each anyway and you can't eat that much meat as it'd really poor quality and cooked poorly so please don't make the same mistake we made and choose this restaurant to eat. I so nearly walked out after the incident at bar when they tried to add on a service charge by made me think they were being polite and bringing our drinks to us, I really wish I had as I've had better tasting food at McDonald's in Moss Side"
