"I'm gutted I'm having to mark the place down...my friend bought me a spa experience for my birthday..got there a bit early, was directed to the breakfast room, bought drinks, all good, went to the spa reception, given the reason why we have to sign for locker keys, as so many guests steal the robes and slippers...odd but okay.. small changing room, no privacy but even that was doable. We used the facilities ..all good, our treatments with Chantelle and Kristina were excellent. So far all so good...had a chilled time in the relaxation room then a final swim before lunch. We decided to lunch in our robes, asked if it was okay the person not serving us shouted over...yer not wet are ya..oh nah ya got towels that's alright...off we trotted to find seats, but we decided our towels were too wet to sit on. We informed the lady who served us we were getting changed and would be back. So back to the changing room, 2 other ladies already there so we dressed out of the locker and squished into corners. On our way back to the cafe area, halfway up the stairs I hear a raised voice, we NEED your keys back, I answered we're just having lunch and we'll return them, NO NOW, must admit I'm a tad perplexed now, so although 1,pm and my friend said she thought it was 2pm finish (I checked the website, it says 2pm). We were told in no uncertain terms we HAD to return the keys...back to the changing room. Gathered our coats and bags gave our keys back and once again made our way to the cafe. So now only the loud lady was at the bar, wot do ya want..we hadn't seen the menu, explained again we'd gone to get changed, so with a huff and a sigh she slapped the menus on the counter, as we'd booked for gluten free I asked if everything on the menu was gluten free, she unbelievably tapped 2 items and said we could get them gluten free. We ordered our meals, by this time the other staff member was back and loud lady was very busy watching what she was doing. And that proved true when our orders came out wrong, only one gluten free meal. We sat for nearly an hour with our dirty dishes in front of us. We finally ordered more drinks and dessert.. the drinks were bought over first, unfortunately a fair bit of juggling as loud lady couldn't find room to place them on the table... Which luckily made the dirty dishes disappear. I loved being with my friend and the most part was excellent. Unfortunately they have lost the custom of 8 people booking again."

Nice place. Ample parking but chairs are rubbish. You can not be comfortable for 10 minutes. Everything inside is very local. Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 5

Lovely Hotel, came here for a friends wedding, rooms are decently sized, bathrooms are bright and clean, I wish there was more lighting in the rooms but other than that, I enjoyed my stay and the wedding which took place at the Orsett Hall. Enjoyed a stay here recently on a business trip. Made use of the Spa facilities and Restaurant. Good value, nice food and clean pool etc. My only gripe was I could hear the surrounding rooms chatting and the lift motor throughout the night. Lovely setting with well maintained gardens. Safety: Car park was secluded enough to feel comfortable leaving my vehicle in the car park. Without worry to find it broken into in the morning. Rooms: 4

"Great food as always, but… we came for a meal to celebrate a family birthday as we have done dozens of times over the years. This restaurant is a family favourite the food is absolutely amazing. However, last night at the point of paying the bill was split equally between 3 family members with each total being rounded up to a nice even number to add on the tip. The first 2 members paid exactly the same amount, but when it came to the 3rd member of the group who was sitting furthest away from the waiter taking the card payments, instead of charging the the same as he had done twice already, he added an extra £10 then held the terminal price towards himself so the last member had to just reach out make contact with the back of the machine to pay, without seeing the charge. It was only that a member of the group seated closer noticed at the last second that additional money had been added on as it was in very big, bright digits facing the waiter. The general feel at the time from all was that this did not feel like an accident. The last member of the group to pay was a more frail member of the party which we obviously feel was seen as an easier target for such a ‘mistake’. Only £10, but if you add this on a handful of times here there it certainly adds up. Also to add, Village Indiya is a restaurant with a really great reputation, we don’t think that this is something the restaurant would engage in, but clearly a ploy from an individual trying to make a few quid extra. We were left feeling disappointed. Keep an eye on your payments!"
