"Family of 4 came to palmers recently we would never visit again we had heard that it was not the best but wanted to see for ourselves and indeed it was very bad. firstly we were greeted in the most awful way by one of the female owners my wife asked a member of staff what the lady's name was and was told Lois the owner. she was rude to all family members and her people skills were beyond disgusting. she used some very awful language and her tone of voice was very abrupt. after having a go at us all for no reason she eventually went and we felt slightly more relaxed after she left the dining area. other staff seemed ok and helpful. after travelling a long way we were hungry and decided to eat but another major mistake the food we ordered was very poor quality our child's meat dish smelt very off and we could smell that it was off. some family members had ham and salad dishes but the ham smelt rotten and its appearance way grey and totally out of date produce was served to us. after how the owner greeted us we felt concerned to raise concerns about our meal's how can they serve out of date produce ? surely it's illegal and dangerous to peoples health. the actual garden center was nice to look around but after the first outburst from Lois it ruined the visit for all the family there was no need for this and we wouldn't visit or eat here again totally dreadful."

Lovely spot and plenty of space and staff. Tables a little grubby first thing and noticed they are not wiping between customers.

Just poor!! Rang before arriving to check that they were open (around 2 on a Sunday), was assured all ok, turned up less that 5 minutes later to really poor service, attitude from the manager and a kitchen closed, what was available was poor quality and extortionate price!

Came in a few months back with a friend and was very disappointed but decided to give it a second chance as friends recommended it had improved. We came in Friday and were greeted with a smile this time and happy staff. We ordered our food and were served promptly. We had a lovely time and I must add the cafe and garden centre looked lovely and Christmassy. View menu

Good food although quite unsanitary, me and my family saw a employee there stroking a dog near its mouth, didn’t clean or get a new pair of gloves and continued to hand out food with these gloves on. Me and my family found this unrealistic as people can have allergic reactions to dogs. Also cleaning dirty tables with gloves on and not changing and then handing out food. Although, staff were very considerate and helpful asking if we were done with our food and a cheery smile on their face. We probably would go back although this happened. Poor effort into hygiene.

Absolutely dreadful. The worst carvery we ve ever had. They serve you at your table, so you can't actually see the food, so you can't really call it a carvery. The lamb was not carved off a joint but definitely prepacked, the food was cold. I gad one half and 2 tiny hits of potato tgat didn't even make a whole one, they were very crispy on the outside and stone cold in tge middle as if the had been reheated. Yes there was cauliflower cheese, 1 florets and lots of thin watery sauce. The whole plate was swamped in a mountain of peas and swimming in gravy. My mum was too embarrassed to say anything. So bad for almost £16!!

Attending the restaurant at 2:30 whilst they were still open. They had sold out of all food and told me they could only do sandwich and chips. These are items they sell gluten free. Upon ordering the gluten free items, I asked them if they use separate butter between the sandwiches and if the chips are cooked separately. They informed me that they cook the gluten free chips with breaded products therefore making the chips not gluten free. They also use the same butter which is used in normal sandwich’s in the non gluten free ones. The food is therefore not gluten free. I have reported this outfit to environmental health. The quality of gluten free sandwiches matches yeovil hospital. View menu

Went for a ploughman’s, used to be so good, size of it had literally halved and the price of £12 extortionate. Used to be able to get ham and cheese for £8.95. I hardly had stated it, went to put the ham in my mouth and it stank, it was off. I was literally retching!!! My friend smelt it and said the same! Called over the staff and was told I could have another meal with fresh ham!!!! That’s what I wanted in the first place!!!! I said I felt sick and couldn’t eat anything else. They offered me half the price back, I said no as I had hardly touched it. Eventually I was given a full refund. It appears that Palmers have lost what they had, I would rather pay a bit more and go to The Trough. Wil...
