"Haven’t been to The Gate for a meal for a while but have used the bar area a couple of times this year and the ambience and wine list are good. I wanted a light lunch so chose the vegetarian flatbread. It took almost 45 minutes to arrive and what was served was terrible, dry and over cooked. There was only about a tablespoon of topping- aubergine, onion and miso- spread in the middle of the overly crisp bread.No one came to ask if the meal was ok. My daughter thought her salad was average. All very disapppinting. It took a further 10 minutes to attract anyone’s attention to get the bill as the waitress was busy chatting to customers . I won’t be in a hurry to return to the restaurant."

the one I thought was on the special price menu for 2 courses, but was quite misleading as the full price dishes were offered with special. manager treated the complaining excellent and would definitely return

The ambiance is nice, but I found the "new" menu a bit disappointing. I'd prefer to see plain grilled fish as an option. Currently, the main choice for simple protein is steak, which naturally drives up the cost of the meal.

booked via open table and received an email in confirmation. day before my booking I received a reminder email. telephoned the venue to confirm that they had my booking and no they did not! Valentine's Day, so nothing else available. so glad I turned my wife and I off the door. would be better to put a note in a bottle and throw it in the chess.
