"Warm welcome tables spaced well apart looks clean and inviting. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Savoury pies seem to be their speciality different pies on the menu the night we were there) but a full menu is available. There is a note on the...menu saying all food is cooked to order so be patient (or something similar). About minutes after ordering the food arrived, it was all piping hot and was superbly cooked, very tasty pie and fabulous gravy. Only comment for improvement would be to use fresh mint not mint sauce in the minted peas. Will definitely return to this place when in the area."

We started with the mixed platter appetizer, followed by a homemade steak and onion pie, triple cooked chips, and a meat feast pizza. All of the dishes were delicious and generously portioned. We highly recommend this restaurant. The bar area is also welcoming to dogs. View menu

Visited here in October , very lovely place so thought I would go back this May , Couple have worked very hard to improve this Pub. But was only opened on A Friday and Saturday. We arrived on Saturday and the weather was so...bad only had one drink as had to sit outside due to the restrictions . Marque and heaters available . Will return . Landlady is lovely . View menu

I visited this restaurant again after the lockdown and had a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable. I had hoped to have a Sunday lunch there, but it was fully booked, which is a good sign. I will make sure to book in advance next year. The atmosphere was very comfortable and they are also dog friendly.

I decided to go to Queens Head for Sunday lunch at the last minute, mainly because they allow dogs. They only offer roasts on Sundays, but there was a good variety to choose from and ordering was simple. The portions were generous and the vegetables were delicious. However, the meats we tried were quite dry. When we mentioned this to the staff, they kindly removed the cost of the dessert from our bill.

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
