"Having been turned away from the White Horse at South Lopham who no longer serve lunches on a Tuesday, three of us decided to try the Red Lion. An excellent choice. In particular we were taken by some of the more unusual menu options, such as Farmers pie and smoked haddock tartlet, both of which were excellent. The third choice was scampi and chips with more pieces of scampi than served elsewhere according to the very satisfied diner. My sister's Sheltie collie dog was made equally welcome and the waitress offered some doggy nibbles to enjoy. Well done the Red Lion."

The friendly pub has a nice atmosphere with a welcoming reception. They offer a good selection of beers and a compact menu with enough variety. Outdoor seating is also available.

I think this pub is trying hard to bring local food onto their menu with a twist the Lion burger was great! but other bits a little bit of a let down, always a cosy local atmosphere. nearly there just a little more effort would make it great!

I have been to this restaurant multiple times in the past year and have never been disappointed! The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious and homemade. The restaurant is located in a beautiful traditional setting. Overall, it is just fantastic!

We stopped by for a few drinks while passing through, and we had a wonderful time. Jill, the bartender, is an absolutely fantastic person. She took the time to give us plenty of advice and recommendations for the area. The locals were also very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely suggest stopping by if you're in the area. I was very lucky and won an afternoon tea for 2. As someone who regularly goes for afternoon tea I was very excited about this and booked it in quickly. Everything was great! Fab variety of cakes, the sandwiches were moist and scone was large. We got unlimited tea and a bottle of Prosecco. I will be taking my mum and sister there very soon as I enjoyed it so much! Thank you Red Lion!

We passed by and pulled in for some quick lunch. We found a seat and was served straight away. No waiting at all, which was great. The waitress was very friendly and help with any questions we had about the menu. We ordered the Lion burger and the farmers pie. Both orders came very quick and had clearly been cooked fresh, not warmed up at all. The food price was spot on and matched the food quality. No complaints at all! If we are ever passing by we will certainly stop in!

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
