"We visited this hidden gem' on a strong recommendation that the food and general ambience were excellent. Indeed, the food was excellent. We both had a steak that appeared sizzling on a hot plate. Accompanying vegetables and sides were well prepared and the steaks were...cooked precisely as requested. Wines were good and the place had a quality, slightly cosy, quirky feel to it. So everything was good right? Well, not really as there was definitely something missing. We reflected on this during the evening and decided that the whole experience was let down by inexperienced staff. Whilst the staff didn't do anything we could call wrong, were always polite, and when you could get their attention and did ask them something they did everything well enough, the real problem was that in a restaurant of this quality (read cost) and pretention you should be expecting a much higher and much more personal level of service than we actually received. This left us deciding that the expensive deserts were not worth the effort, wait or price and we left to drop into Zurheide and grab some chocolate fondant and ice (which was gorgeous btw)"

We had a business dinner at Reef and Beef. The steak was good, but over-priced and a little over cooked too (for rare saignant). The dish comes with no vegetables so everything is extra. There is better and better value in Dusseldorf!

Worst service ever seen. Waiter drop a beer on me and they did nothing, not even offer a towel. They just let it go. And the funny thing is that they charged the beer!!Forgot part of the order and never served it. I have been here with business partners, friends and colleagues. Each time of this 3 unforgettable dinners I has the best steak I could imagine. For me, this steakhouse is the best I have been to in Germany. The service is really skilled, make sure you enjoy the meat presentation and ask for a wine. Atmosphere is very cosy and intimate. Meat is first class. I have asked for a filet mignon every time I was at Reef & Beef and I was never disappointed. Perfectly medium and super crunchy crust. Truffle mashed potatoes, spinach and home made sauce bearnaise are a must have.

Sister restaurant of The Classic Western Steakhouse and the menu is very similar. I will say the same thing about both restaurants my favourite cut of steak is rib-eye but the one they serve here is far too lean for my taste one...of the reasons I love rib-eye is the lumps of fat and the delicious texture that fat marbled all through the meat gives it. A lean version just doesn’t deliver what I expect. However, I have discovered that the filet is excellent. The wine list is also very extensive. I like the fact you can chose your sides and they have a good range of vegetable or salad options which is pretty unusual for Germany.
