"German tends to be pretty substantial which is why da Livio is a great alternative We are living in Mitterfelden for a week house exchange so we enjoyed a brisk walk along the Sallach river Thete was a slight deviation through the railway excavations...etc , then into Freiassing with the restaurant located conveniently across the road from the railway station No reservation but no worries. We were shown to a good table and great service despite our lack of German. An excellent pizza calzone was shared. I had risotto safrano, served in scallop shells, the prawns really fresh and firm...not frozen stuff..great presentation. SHE had scallopine with funghi....was served fettucine instead of potatoes, a request that was happily carried out by our waiter After Spain and the Camino, SHE does not do potato !! A couple of glasses of good pinot grigio and always plenty of water served As we were beginning to leave, we we were offered a farewell drink, we chose limincello which was well made The bill came to which we consider excellent value. We have some fantastic Italian restaurants in Australia but this was equally as good as them eg check out Grappa in Leichhardt on Google"

Our friends introduced us to this nice little Italian restaurant. The food was quite nice and the service was excellent!

We've been here times in a row. Every visit was a great pleasure. Service was very kind, and the food was great as well, especially the chef's offer. So its absolutely worth a try.

Absoluter Geheimtipp !

Seit vielen Jahren unser absoluter Lieblingsitaliener.

We had two meals here, but very different experiences. Our first meal was excellently prepared and the service was superb. But when we visited three days later, it was like the good staff had all been fired. The pizza was dry with the absolute minimum...toppings. Our salad and pizza were served at the same time. And it was impossible to get the wait staff's attention. So a star and a star experience averages to a

Visited whilst staying in Freilassing as wanted a change from traditional heavy meats on a very hot night. At first a little worried as we were the only couple there. Then joined by a couple who had travelled from Salzburg for a meal. We then...realise Germany was playing in Euro so everyone was at home. We both had a prawn salad with large succulent prawns, although my one did seem to have a lot of liquid? not drained properly. for desert we had Tiramasu which was the best I have ever tasted.

"Schmuggler was suggested to us by the man who we rented our vacation apartment from. He said Schmuggler is a ‘must do’ because it is his favorite pub in Freilassing. Upon arriving we walked into a huge beer garden with many tables to choose from....The beer garden is spacious and one does not feel crowded with tables extremely close to one another. There are large trees spread throughout and hanging lights that are turned on once the sun goes down. The inside is a typical pub setting. There are wooden tables and chairs, a bar with a vast variety of drinks, a pool table and foosball table for some fun, and clean bathrooms. It is a cozy environment for a few beers on a night out. Most people seemed to be locals who were enjoying their time with close friends and family. We opened the drink menu and saw they have a large assortment of coffees, teas, and juices as well as beer, wine, and spirits. The food menu has a great breakfast selection, along with lunch and dinner consisting of innovative salads, pasta dishes, multiple pizzas, as well as a few house specialties. The prices are relatively inexpensive averaging around Euros. We ordered a pizza and a flumkuchen which were both tasty and satisfying. Looking around at the other tables we saw different plates of food all of which were good portion sizes and looked delicious. The atmosphere is what made our experience so enjoyable. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Our drinks and food came in a timely manner. The people around us were having a great time and Schmuggler seems to be the local hang out spot. This could be considered a family restaurant as there were people young and old alike who were sharing meals and great moments together. This is not some place ‘special’ to go to for an extravagant dinner. This is a local pub/restaurant with good food and good prices. This is a very chill place to have breakfast or dinner and we will definitely visit again next time we are in Freilassing!"
