For me, excellence is more qualitative, the waitress and the boss know what she's talking about, don't drown in an incomprehensible flow of information, and knows how to highlight each dish without pushing the client to feel strength on a choice. There is a high quality dish, the card is not shielded but leaves the choice. we do not spend his time waiting for nothing and when we are served, the papillae do not know or give no head! "I happened to spot this place as I walked into the center of Verdun. It's on one of the main streets leading into the center, but it's away from the tourist scene. It was excellent: staff, service and esp. the food. I had des geziers as an appetizer, and joked with the waiter that if he brought me a second portion, that would be all that was needed for dinner. The second visit proved just as good. This is one of those lucky finds, just outside the tourist center, that makes it worthwhile."

"An enjoyable experience of French rustic cuisine and a comfortable level of service that inspires confidence to return again and again.I have been working in France for alternate weeks over the last four months and moving between the rural communities, region to region, every other day or so. The proliferation of multi outlet food chains is very depressing and hard on the digestion so finding the 'Bonsejour' on the outskirts of Verdun for Lunch last Tuesday was a very bright spot. I and my two French colleagues enjoyed a light lunch (they had fresh pizza) and I had the local version of 'Flammkucken' all of which were cooked in the wood fired oven at the centre of the dining room. Fresh, well executed, good to look at and the aromas and flavours were excellent.Following this initial test we returned for dinner that evening and enjoyed excellent Moule Farci followed by Rump Steak, green salad and their own version of French Fries. The food was excellent and very well complemented by inexpensive but good quality wine by the glass, a VDP de Gascony white and a Cote de Blaye Bordeaux. The following day we completed our work just after 1:00pm and had to drive back through Verdun on the way to Calais and home so stopped again at the Bonsejour for Lunch. This time I had home made fresh pasta with scallops which was to the same high standard.The restaurant is clean and well run with pleasant unpretentious staff and has an atmosphere that is relaxing and enjoyable. It has restored my faith that this type of independent excellent regional and authentic restaurants still operate but you do have to be determined and lucky to find them amongst the ambient noise of the chains that have been allowed to dominate and then eradicate what is usually good French taste. I will be back to the Bonsejour for more and to congratulate its owner and staff for restoring my belief."

"the dishes are excellent. from the entrance to the dessert, everything is good, well presented. the proposed wine is just perfect and in agreement with the dishes. However, off the dish of the day at noon in the week, I find that the prices are a little excessive: euros for people with aperitives, wines, admissions, dishes and desserts. fast and efficient service. the take-away dishes are excellent too. Don't hesitate to stop here, it's a succulent!"

"En visite à Verdun en septembre 2023, nous avons découvert par hasard ce restaurant simple mais authentique. Les deux salles sont joliment décorées, l'ambiance est chaleureuse et décontractée, l'accueil des deux serveuses est excellent, vous êtes les bienvenus. Quelle ne fut pas notre surprise de découvrir un chef amoureux de la cuisine traditionnelle et familiale! Nous avons mis ce goût à l'épreuve en commandant la suggestion du jour, une côte de veau aux girolles, que du bonheur ! La viande de qualité était accompagnée de girolles fraiches, le plat généreux, le goût était au rendez-vous. Au regard de celle belle expérience, nous sommes revenus diner le soir. Si vous appréciez la cuisine traditionnelle, nous vous recommandons donc ce restaurant. Bravo et merci les artistes, nous vous embrassons, vous aimons, vous estimons et surtout portez vous bien !
