"Booked as a Mothers Day celebration because there were no bookings available at the weekend. Had told my Mother that it was excellent, my favourite restaurant, the best place for miles for fillet steak etc etc. She was really looking forward to it. However, the...meal arrived on a cool plate, the chips were lukewarm, as was the steak and the onion loaf was cold. It was 6pm and the place was practically deserted with only 2 other people awaiting their meal. We sent both meals back and they returned at exactly the same temperature, except that the chips were now hot. We complained to the waitress and her reply was that she had seen the chips come out of the fryer. The two ladies at the next table also complained that their meal was not hot and they were given fresh chips. We then left as we felt that we were not going to receive a hot meal. We had both ordered fillet steak at a considerable but acceptable cost for a good quality meal, but not for food that was not hot. I have eaten there regularly since it opened but shall not do so again."

"Our experience at this restaurant was absolutely wonderful! The service and food quality are outstanding, especially for a place that describes itself as a coffee shop. We visited with our grandchildren and they were welcomed just as warmly as we were. They went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten-free granddaughter's preferences, making changes to the menu to suit her tastes. The pizzas were amazing, my pea pesto pasta was delicious, and the homemade ice cream was divine. Both the kids and grandparents were very happy. We will definitely be returning - it's truly a delight to receive fantastic service with a smile and enjoy great food all in one place."

"Today, we had a delicious and reasonably priced Sunday Lunch at the Wickstead Arms lounge. The service was exceptional and we felt very welcomed. The pub had a cozy and traditional decor, with a mix of regulars and new faces, including families with babies. Despite not having a reservation, we were able to find a table easily. They even offered a gluten-free Sunday Roast option. The place was clean and well-maintained, including the toilets (although there was no official baby changing station, there was a mat provided and the floor was clean)."

"I went to this restaurant for a work colleague’s farewell party. Upon entering, we were met with a sweaty smell rather than the pleasant aroma of Indian food. However, we eventually got used to the smell after about 15 minutes. The drink selection was limited for those who don’t enjoy wine. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our food, except for the nan breads which were thin and lacking in flavor. The service was good and the prices were reasonable, despite the sweaty smell (which may have been a one-time occurrence). Personally, I wouldn't return as it does not meet the standards of my local Indian restaurant."

"Went today for coffee and lunch with friends. We were seated at a table with armchair style chairs which were extremely uncomfortable, too low, and too far away from the table. We asked 2 members of staff if we could move to another empty table of which there were quite a few. They both said they would have to ask their manager, we heard the lady ask her manager who said NO, we were not asked if there was a reason behind our request. (We both have issues with our spine). The manager came and asked for food order at which point we told her that we would finish our drinks and then be leaving which we did. Went to Navio Lounge where we had a lovely lunch in a relaxed friendly atmosphere, staff were great and amazing food. Will never go to the Crown Hotel again. Customer service needs looking at."
