"We went to the Anvil in August 2023 to sample their new outdoor pizza area. We spoke to two different members of staff on the phone, said we were coming specifically for pizza and booked a table for a Wednesday. One did say pizza wasn’t available on Mondays or Tuesdays. When we arrived we were told pizzas were not available on Wednesdays. Very disappointing. Hungry, we opted for the burgers which were okay. Echoing comments from others, reduced menu and a bit pricey. I emailed the Anvil noting the lack of staff knowledge when pizzas were actually available and suggesting their website note when they are available. No reply – like many other recent comments on TripAdvisor. When you have a bad experience you would like to think someone was listening and actually cared enough to reply."

Very warm atmosphere, There is also an active fireplace. Amazing food for the money. Drinks are quite pricey.

Staff were sullen, food was nothing special. I certainly would not be rushing back. Couple of mistakes with our food order, was put right when asked but a smile would have been nice.

Fairly good. Butternut Soup with the bread was wonderful and enjoyed by all who tried. Service is slow but didn't have many working it seemed so they were always rushing. Burger was the usual type, steak was enjoyed by the others. All in all not bad for stopping while driving. View menu

Parking at this restaurant is a disaster, with small and disorganised spaces. Two pints cost almost 13£, and there was a bag of dog waste in the garden where people were dining. Although it is the responsibility of the dog owner, none of the staff seemed to notice. Overall, it was disappointing considering the beauty of the place.

We stayed for 3 nights and were so pleased with our choice. Rooms are clean and airy. Staff were so lovely including the cleaners. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and we were joined by 4 friends for an evening meal on Sunday. We all enjoyed our food immensely. Would definitely stay here again when visiting this area. Lovely hosts

This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel as our daughter lives in pimperne and we travel down from Derbyshire once a year. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and so cosy. The rooms are stylist and clean and very comfortable. The food is beautiful we had Sunday lunch there were 7 of us. Breakfasts beautifully presented. Very traditional old pub with some quirky features. We can’t wait to come back

Stopped in for a Sunday roast as we were passing through, a risky move as we have very high standards for roast dinners, but the Anvil did not disappoint! The best roast dinner we have had out in a long time. We both had the roast beef, which was pink in the middle and lovely and tender, came with a large Yorkshire pudding, roasted carrot and parsnip, al dente broccoli (no one wants mushy broccoli), super cheesy cauliflower cheese, perfectly crispy and fluffy roast potatoes and ample gravy. Good sized portions, prompt service and staff were all very accommodating and friendly.

"The Museum Inn, located in Farnham, Nr. Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT11 8DE We booked late on Friday night and only one room was available so it was meant to be! We arrived around 5pm and were greeted by friendly staff, shown to our room The Catch and made a reservation for dinner, luckily they still had spaces for dinner but it is advised to book in advance. Lovely spacious room and bathroom, kettle, teas, coffees and bottled water supplied. I have to say I fell in love with the hand wash and hand cream, I have already purchased some for home, the brand is called Bramley and the scent is Lavender, Geranium and Petitgrain. The bed is probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in that is not our own, soft feather pillows that were just right! Dinner was a three course meal and it was delicious, we took 2 hours to eat but never felt rushed or like we were waiting too long between courses. Starters: Ham hock terrine with sourdough toast and Prawn, potato and crayfish fishcakes. Mains: Burger and Steak Ale pie Desserts: Chocolate Brownie with cherry sorbet. Biscoff donuts with pumpkin pie ice cream Drinks: Poretti lager and Cherry cocktail. Breakfast: Eggs Royale and Smashed avocado, poached egg and bacon, absolutely scrumilicious! Big thanks to Amanda who served us this morning and checked us out. Highly recommend staying and eating here and we will 100% be back again! Safe travels! The Allsebrooks x"
