"Deciding to visit another town which I had been to many years ago, I went by train, lucky me! After enjoying a wander around the many individual shops, the market hall and old buildings, i decided to have a substantial snack and this place had caught my eye on the tourist information website. It was not YET raining and very busy and pleasant inside the restaurant down steps by the chapel. I had walked through a courtyard garden to the entrance and asked if I could eat outside...I always prefer that to busy chatter indoors. Very pleasant staff laid a table for me in the courtyard, which had many trees so tha I escaped the rain. I enjoyed a frittata of roast new potatoes, courgettes, violas!!, beet etc. and a glass of wine, followed by a soft and delicious carrot cake. The price was fine..£12.00 for the frittata, the service was good and most importantly, the food was excellent. I shall certainly be taking the train again......especially as the menu changes and there are some new , exciting tastes on it."

Wholesome, tasty food. Friendly service. The staff are busy so it can be a little slow but the food arrives fast enough and is worth the wait. A leisurely experience.

Delicious lunch, we had fritters, shaksuka, and the home-made cordials are delicious, coffee here always grand. Laid back bustle which was a good backdrop to our meeting, and everywhere your eye rests is pleasing. Love this place.

We had family visiting and popped to Abergavenny to enjoy the sunshine and found the Chapel by accident. What a pleasant surprise. The service was lovely. All staff were pleasant and helpful. We had Bertroot and Apple Soup (don’t knock it until you try it)...

Art Shop and Chapel Cafe in Abergavenny is a lovely cafe that has a nice garden. I tried their Turkish eggs, which are basically like shakshuka, and their French toast. The eggs could have been cooked better, but the toast was really nice. The cafe has a nice atmosphere and is a great place to enjoy a tasty breakfast.

Such a lovely place with a really nice atmosphere. Staff are great and knowledgeable and the food is fresh and delicious It can be a little expensive but if like me, you want good fresh, tasty food, you don't mind paying slightly more once in a while. Also is you find steps difficult, don't be put off as there is a lift down to the cafe and the cafe is quite spacious. Try it, I don't think it'll disappoint

The Art Shop and Chapel has become a great favourite in view of the superb food, artistic ambience and outstanding service. They are clearly a very good team. In fact, this review was triggered by the special kindness of Harriet who recognised us and returned something left by our granddaughter Hannah some weeks before. This was above and beyond! Joyti's food was of course as fresh and unique as ever. Keep up the good work. This really is as good as it gets...

This venue is lovely for lunch. I chose the lettuce and lovage soup with a Perl wen and pumpkin seed scone, looked wonderful and tasted delicious. My husband had a ham and cheese toastie with sauerkraut and pickled red cabbage, rhubarb ketchup. I could tell immediately that this was going to be a good visit. Everyone moved round like they really knew what their jobs were and we were brought menus and fresh water very quickly. I can’t fault anything and am looking forward to another trip there, even though we live 90 minutes away! Thanks everyone

Stumbled across this gem today. We were right on closing time for Lunch and they couldn't have been more accommodating. We were initially served by Hattie who immediately put us at ease and explained what was left and included our very own 9 year old Hattie too. We all decided on variations of grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the best ones we've ever had. H had her's plain 8n brioche and Hubby and I had ours with red onion relish on sour dough with a side of salad and made in house rhubarb and beetroot ketchup! Delicious . All swilled down with tea and finished with sour cherry baked cheesecake! We sat inside due to the inclimate weather but there was a be...

We visited the cafe with my wife's parents and our two children. The setting is nice and we were seated after a short wait. The menu is quite small and rather pretentious. The food, when it finally arrived was pretty tasty, however removing all the snobbery it's effectively the most overpriced cheese and ham toasties that have ever existed. The place had clearly forgotten our order, people around us being served after 10 mins of being seated. 40 mins later the children's food arrived, it didn't really match what was expected, two slices of toast and jam for over £6... yes, that's not a typo! Another 15 mins of waiting the toasties arrived. Again, for the price £12+ it's cheese and ham with a...
