"A lovely village pub, the staff were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately we did not have a great experience with the food. We waited a long time for it to be bought out and when it finally arrived, we found it to be quite plain, for the money we expected nicer food. Sides (a sauce and some vegetables) came out very late, by that time half of us had finished and the others dinners were cold. Credit to them, they took the cost of the vegetables off the final bill. We would return for Drinks definitely but unfortunately not food."

I often eat at black horse, as it is my local pub and can never be impressed. the personal is very friendly and welcoming; the ambiente is delightful and eating exquisite. I have no hesitation to recommend the black horse for all occasions, lunch, dinners, parties etc.

Christmas Works Party.. What can I say other than a big Thank You.. Fantastic County Pub full of Christmas spirit, Excellent food, very tasty and a good amount of food on the plate. Great Team serving and manning the Bar, Festive cheer continued into the evening.. would recommend

I don't usually check out any places we eat, but that deserves a mention. the pheasant starter is a meal in itself, beautiful in presentation and cooking. the filet steak again served exactly as desired, my compliments to the chef and professional staff. we will definitely go back sooner than later.

Not great.Didn’t pay for food as it was not up to standard and served cold, and took a long time.Staff claimed to be busy on arrival due to a big table.I saw no big table.There where 2 other meals served whilst we were there.Menu isn’t big or complicated so I could see no real reason for the failure.

We opted to all have the same, 3 roast beef dinners, the beef was lovely but all the veg was undercooked, roast potatoes were hard in the middle, carrots were basically raw and the yorkshires were stodgy, and the worst part was the fishy cauliflower cheese !! Not only was the food pretty poor the service was no better! Overall a very poor experience.

The Black Horse is a real gem. Lively, warm, friendly and fun. Luke, the manager, was welcoming and a joy. For dinner, we had steaks, which were superb, and the house wine was spectacular. We got chatting to some locals after our meal. Kyle, the South African, was so nice to me and my husband and really made us feel like part of the family. We will be back for sure once we're back in Oxfordshire.
