"It was almost empty when we arrived at 1230 midweek but filled up later. A choice of handpump beers which we were offered to taste, as well as the usual selection of gassy national brands. We had the three course lunch menu which we enjoyed. My salmon pate was a pleasant starter but the melba toast was offputtingly hard, putting teeth at risk. Softer toast would have been much better. My moules marinieres were quite perfectly cooked in contrast to the usual slightly overdone style elsewhere. The spiced focaccia, was tasty but over olive oiled so that it was too heavy to mop up the excellent mariniere sauce. The extra chips (my choice! were almost superfluous. A fellow diner enjoyed the confit duck Leg, pepper stew and mash. The espresso coffee was of high standard. There was one young lady waitressing for several tables which she did with aplomb. All in all, a good lunch in comfortable surroundings. Please note that off road parking is very limited so arrive early."

The back of the restaurant has pretty ceiling and the overall decor is modern and tastefully done. Service was very fast , polite staff and food was good with a decent menu.

Delicious lunch I opted for Fish of the day (Sea Bass) perfectly cooked with Samphire and Capers, followed by creme brulee, I think the best Creme Brulee in England. Well worth a visit.

Our second visit to this restaurant was just as enjoyable as the first. The meals were delicious, the staff was friendly, and despite it being busy, we were seated promptly without any long waits. The desserts were also delicious, and we would happily return for another dining experience.

We visited The Boars on a Tuesday evening when they do most main meals for £10. We arrived and was met by the staff promptly seated and our drinks and food orders were taken. The food came and all portions were great and all the food delicious. It was a lovely evening and the staff were pleasant and polite. Will definitely return. (Infact we've booked for next Tuesday : Highly recommend

Our mains were delicious but our desserts were very disappointing, one very over cooked, one tasted stodgy and stale. I should have picked the creme brûlée which is always delicious. I was treating someone for a special birthday so it wasn’t nice that the waiting staff felt the need to openly discuss the price of each main which I felt was unnecessary and made my friend feel uncomfortable.

We recently returned to this restaurant for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The interior decor has been upgraded nicely since lockdown, and the dog-friendly Agricultural Bar also looks great. We ordered the Posh Fish Finger sandwich and drinks, and the dressing on the salad was superb. The overall taste and quality were really good. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant again.

Last minute decision to dine out led us to book a table at the Boars. I had never been before, but my partner had visited a couple of times in the past. We started with crab croquettes, which were decent. My partner found her lamb burger to be a bit dry and lacking in creativity, while I enjoyed the crab linguine. For dessert, I had a lemon syrup sponge with ginger ice cream and my partner opted for crème brûlée, both of which we found delicious. The service was friendly and efficient, although we regretted sitting outside as the wasps were attracted to my cider. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday, creating a nice atmosphere on a lovely summer evening. I personally enjoyed...

A bit of a mixed review. We visited Friday evening. We sat out in the beautiful beer garden and one of the waitresses came to take our drinks order. We asked only about Alcohol free options and chose a few AF beers. We're brought out 2 pints of Peroni and could tell they were alcoholic. That could have been quite a disaster for someone who can't drink! 2 correct beers then brought out. We then were waiting ages for someone to take our food order (it wasn't busy otherwise would have understood this) in the end had to go in and found most of the waiting staff stood around chatting to request our orders taken. Food was good, request to have some as takeaway was happily dealt with. Just looks li...

"So disappointingBefore coming to the swan I had looked at the menu online, as my youngest child has allergies and is dairy free. It states on the menu that ‘light bites’ are GF and most can be adapted to be DF, brilliant! It was our last day of our holiday and I thought I’d treat them to a nice lunch out before heading home. Where do I start, the service attitude from the lady behind the bar was shocking. I asked what could be made DF for my son and was told that there wasn’t anything and they don’t cater for allergies?! I pointed out on the menu that they state they can and was met with an eye roll basically. Anyway, I thought I would get him some chips, nope, they fry them in the same oil as the dairy and meat products we are vegetarian ! I then asked about the VEGAN dishes they had and I was told they are also cooked and prepared for alongside the meat products so they can’t guarantee they will actually be vegan!! By this point my daughters had already got excited about eating out and the play area that I couldn’t really back track, so I went against my better judgement and ordered 3 sandwiches on granary bread and a childrens fish chips. My son had a packet of crisps. The sandwiches arrived and were absolutely awful, the cheese and onion one was 2 slices of cheap shop bought bread with some pre grated cheese and a couple of slices of onion not even any butter! It wasn’t cheap, £45 for 4 soft drinks, 3 sandwiches and a child meal. Then there’s the play area, sharp screws poking up through the wood chip, lose sharp fixings on top of the slide, and a massive electric open cable under the swings! We swiftly left, it was such a bad end to our holiday and should have been our final hurrah before driving home. Was appalled at their attitude towards me, was treated like an inconvenience, food was awful, please don’t eat there if you are Vegan, although the dish is vegan ? they certainly don’t take the steps necessary to keep it away from meat, and definitely not safe for anyone with an allergy. Such a shame as the location is so pretty with the river opposite, we were excited and left feeling really disappointed. Will not be back."
