"This was our fourth visit as always found this was a great place for lunch. As always the service was prompt and friendly. However the food was a major disappointment. The menu advised they were offering a reduced menu which would have suggested staffing issues, but we thought this should not affect the quality of the food particularly as they were charging normal prices. Sadly this was not so, my toasted Cheese and Ham sandwich was just a smear of cheesy stuff and tasteless ham barely covering the otherwise dry bread, with a side salad consisting of 1 slice of tomato and cucumber and some shredded lettuce definitely not worth Β£8.95. Also my wife's Teacake was burnt. All in all and overpriced and disappointing visit."

We had super coffee and cake here, very friendly service. Great selection for either lunches or just a sweet treat. Nice atmosphere. Will call again.

We popped into the cafe for a spot of lunch. Despite being very busy, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was tasty and portions were generous. We would visit again. View menu

Stopped here for a quiche and salad, there were a few quiche choices, opted for the salmon and brocolli, very tasty. Great selection of cakes on offer, lovely teas and loads of other drinks choices. Very tempting tiptree flavoured vodkas and gins for sale. Recommend if you're in the area.

Lunch at the Courtyard was interesting! The food was good. Portion size good and well presented. Not cheap, but good value. There was a 30 minute wait for food, but the service itself was slow and inefficient. Staff attention seemed to be elsewhere and even paying the bill was tedious. Nice, but wouldn 't return there is better locally

Arriving at 12:30 on a Saturday lunch time, we waited just a few minutes for a table.Debbie who greeted us was most helpful as we wanted a taylormade afternoon tea. With Debbie's help we had some lovely sandwich selection and two scone choices.Unlimited coffee was a bonus. The sandwiches were excellent and as we could not eat any more, the staff packed ALL our scones and associated paraphernalia into two boxes for us to take hope..Wonderful couldn't ask for more View menu

Visit here last week with my daughter. We sat outside . We had to ask for the table to be cleaned. We both ordered jacket potatoes. When they arrived the waitress did not have gloves on and had her thumb in my daughter's jacket potatoe . The potatoes were both luke warm and my daughter's beans were cold. We sent them back there was an improvement I guess but still not great. We did not eat much and our lunch was spoilt. We both came away hungry. Will not be returning !!

On a cold Thursday lunchtime, this Tiptree cafe was packed out.I was recommended the Christmas Cracker sandwich which was made up of Turkey and stuffing between to slices of brown bread. It was weird. It so didn't work. Whoever dreamt this up had obviously too many Christmas tipples. It was a car crash of a sandwich. The upside was that the chips were great, and the Tiptree Ketchup super tasty. The meal deal Β£10.95) also included a cup of tea and a perfect mince pie.At least it wasn't a boring lunch!

"We have lived in Dunmow for 25 years and have always visited this pub through its various ownerships. We had not been for a while, until after I had a life saving major heart operation last year and this was the first place we chose to go for breakfast when I came out of hospital. We have continued to go since then on a regular basis and it never fails to satisfy. We have always been served by Lorraine since the first day we went and she has been fantastic. Last weekend was a year since I had the operation and we chose to go back for a small family meal to celebrate the success of the day. Well what can I say, my wife had other ideas and with the help of Lorraine she organised a surprise gathering of family and friends in a cordoned off part of the marquee with buffet. What made it even more special was that they don't normally do a buffet on a Sunday as it is normally roast dinner only. After Lorraine explained to her manager the importance of the day she was more than happy to help make the day happen. For this I am really grateful, and despite not getting the steak dinner I thought I was having it was so much better. Thank you to everyone involved as I know the organisation for this on a day you would not normally do it would have been a challenge. We will continue to go for breakfast whenever we can and hope that Lorraine is always there."

"The Green Man at Linsell is a charming pub located off the beaten path that almost meets expectations. The pub's decor is lovely and you'll receive a warm welcome from the attentive front-of-house team. It's a step up from your typical pub, with white tablecloths and napkins that elevate the Sunday lunch experience. Getting there may require navigating through narrow single-track roads with the help of a somewhat confusing satnav, but there is ample parking available once you arrive. The drink selection is standard pub fare, though the wine list appears reasonable. For our meal, we both opted for the beef Sunday roast. While everything was cooked well, the dishes lacked seasoning and punch to truly elevate the flavors. One dish that stood out was a broccoli cheese concoction that seemed odd and wasn't to our taste. For dessert, we tried the crumble and brownie bake. The crumble, advertised as apple and blackberry or blackcurrant, felt lacking in the black element, resulting in what appeared to be a purple apple crumble. Despite these drawbacks, we cleaned our plates and left feeling satisfied and ready for a post-meal walk with our dog. The bill came to Β£30 per person, drinks included, making it a reasonably priced Sunday lunch option. Overall, The Green Man at Linsell is worth a visit for a leisurely lunch in a pleasant setting."
