"My sister and I called into this lovely looking pub/restaurant on the way to visit our mum. Beautiful day very warm. It was really hot in the restaurant no fans or air con). I ordered a spinach feta and butternut squash gluten free tart with a green salad and boiled potatoes. The gf tart was very over cooked to the extent that the pastry was shattering instead of cutting cleanly. The filling was virtually black , the feta , unfindable and the squash formed wet patches in the extremely hot tart. The potatoes were bland with no dressing I could find. The salad tasted like it was dressed with plain oil. Very bland and not good to look at. My sister ordered the cherries mac and cheese with garlic bread . She rated it mediocre at best. Again it was extremely hot. And the ciabatta roll which they used for the garlic bread was very hard and extremely chewy. We also had a coffee each. For £40 I feel we could have had a better meal just about anywhere else. I will not be eating there again. Money is harder to come by in todays economy and this felt like a waste of it."

Always a cheerful welcome from Damien, Sharon, Cara and the team and a nice atmosphere. Food has been very good and we have eaten here a few times with no problems. We will be coming again.

I've been working away in Bristol and had tried a few different pubs for a meal on a night. The Folly is the only place around this area that I would recommend as every meal has been excellent for me and others working with me....

We went on New Year’s Eve expecting a band, however this had been replaced with a disco. The service was brilliant with very friendly staff. Unfortunately the food let it down. The chicken was dry and portions far too large. Sauce was very thick. Beetroot and feta tart was disappointing, with lots of store bought pesto and chunks of feta added as an afterthought. All our steaks were overcooked. That said we had a nice evening.

We had a Boxing Day meal as a family of 8 at the Folly which we paid over £400 for to be insulted! The food was lovely. The service was quite slow but we were massively upset that a member of staff approached us in the car park to say someone had claimed we were smoking weed! My partner spoke to the manager about it but there was no apology to us and I've written to the pub and to Marston’s with no response so clearly, they think this is how to treat customers. I won't be going back and I would recommend anyone thinking of booking a meal here to avoid the place.

"We booked our family Xmas dinner there was very excited for it tbh , when we arrived the waitresses was friendly and amazing really good staff especially the young girl waiting our table , unfortunately when the food came was very disappointing I think my meat was lamb but the slices was so thin it almost seemed packet store bought again the carrots we had 3 slices very small and not even a quarter of a parsnip and a ball of something. That was mashed and the potatoes was simply lacking the gravy was nice aslo the condiments but then the desserts came and unfortunately followed suit with the sicky toffee pudding was obviously brought in and microwaved and hot held for a long time as there was a layer about the size of the top of my little finger that was hard and dried out basically and to top it off we let the waitress know some was orders with custard as it’s all pre ordered next thing we know the chef was at our table with her back up letting us know we was wrong untill we showed her the order form un professional tbh we was paying up to 30£ per person for this and from a table full of chefs and waitresses stand point never really do reviews but as it’s a lovely place thought needed to be said as a professional you need to hear the negatives to improve otherwise people will say it’s good and never return , bar staff front of house staff 10 out 0f 10 thou"
