"Firstly, please don 't confuse this pub/restaurant with The Fox and Hounds in Willingham by Stow. Tripadvisor calls that pub The Fox and Hounds, Lincoln but it is it is a totally different pub. Very confusing. The pub I am reviewing here is in North Hykeham, and is actually nearer to Lincoln than the one in Willingham by Stow so the Tripadvisor description of the other pub as The Fox and Hounds, Lincoln is very misleading and inaccurate.OK... so in relation to the Fox and Hounds in NORTH HYKEHAM, LINCOLN. The first point is don 't be put off by appearances. When you first walk into the pub it feels more like a local boozer where people just go to drink and watch football on the telly. But appearances can be very deceptive. The food here is absolutely fantastic. This is real home cooked, high quality food at ridiculously low prices. The chef is obviously keen to go beyond the usual mundane pub grub and has come up with a fantastic menu with some really innovative items that you just wouldn 't expect on a standard pub menu.Being a vegetarian, I absolutely love this place. There is a multitude of choices on their vegetarian 'specials ' board and it 's not just the typical boring baked potatoes and omelettes that you get in most pubs. The chef has really made an effort to come up with some fantastic veggie alternatives, which are genuinely home cooked not just the usual microwave rubbish that most pubs serve.Frighteningly, on a recent visit the landlady told me they were actually thinking of changing the menu and introducing a carvery .... Aaaaghhhh!!!!... please don 't do that,.. you already have a superb menu and serve some wonderful high quality food. Why change?!?! What this pub needs is not a new menu, but better marketing. Whenever I visit, it always seems to be nearly empty, despite being on a very busy main road with hordes of commuters driving past. When the word finally gets out about this hidden gem, people will be queuing outside to get in !!As I said at the start, don 't be put off by appearances the food is superb."

Most times we go there the food is outstanding and excellent value for money. We have had the occasional bad meal but these have be far outweighed by the ongoing excellent value and experience

Many people recommended this restaurant to us, but I'm not sure why. The food was terrible - we didn't even finish it and ended up going to McDonald's afterwards. The beef was not cooked properly and was tough, and the vegetables were all hard. We won't be returning to this place. View menu

We were thrilled to find this great restaurant! It can be difficult for us since I am a vegetarian and my husband has celiac disease. We were pleased to see that the chips were gluten-free and that he had several menu options to choose from. I would suggest adding a vegetarian lasagne to the menu (just my personal favorite), but overall, this is one of the best places we have visited in a while. The service was excellent and the food was served quickly. The restaurant has a charming, old-worldly pub atmosphere.

Just been for our evening meal. Warm welcome and excellent service. I had Chicken Diane with Mushrooms sauce, this was so good, real homemade chips, chicken so tender, just perfect. Tony had Gammo , egg and chips, with garden peas, he said it was excellent, perfect. I had vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce, all the deserts looked great but I just asked if I could have ice cream, I really enjoyed it. This was our first visit today, going again Friday and Saturday we enjoyed it so much. The best chips ever, food cooked to perfection.

I made a reservation for Sunday lunch so we could dine on the day we arrived at the cottage. We received a warm welcome and the meal was absolutely delicious. The food was hot and tasty, cooked perfectly. We also dined there on Wednesday and Thursday, and each meal was enjoyable. The homemade chips, real mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire Pudding were all fantastic, and the roast beef was cooked to perfection. We are thrilled to have discovered a charming pub where we will definitely return on our next visit to the cottage. A big thank you to the amazing staff for a wonderful dining experience. View menu

A great little pub restaurant, I come here most Friday's with my wife while the kids are at karate. It's often busy but the service is great and where always finished in time to get the kids. Here you get proper chips (not frozen ones) and the food is always great, iv never had a bad meal from here. If I was to recommend a dish Id say either the fish (whale) and chips or the braised beef in a giant Yorkshire pud (get a extra gravy boat) are two of my favourite meals also the stakes are good too. I can't coment on the desert as I'm always too full to have one . The price is very reasonable, the bill for me and the wife often only comes to around £20 for our 2 meals and two drinks. The staff a...

My husband and I have just enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch and cannot believe previous reviews. It was served promptly by a very friendly young waitress and the presentation was eye opening. Three thick slices of beef, which could be cut through like butter, a giant homemade Yorkshire pudding, sat atop a plateful of vegetables. Roast and new potatoes, carrots, peas, cabbage and cauliflower. Gravy which was really tasty and the waitress obliged by bringing another gravy boat. Excellent value for £5.95 or £7.95 if you wanted either starter or sweet. Previous review stated food was overcooked. Mine today was cooked to perfection and certainly not soggy. Have been for evening meals before and neve...

"when we arrived, there was a 15 min waiting for a table for 4 people. that in my head was a good thing, and what can I say, but I was right. I go out for dinner and give a 5-star rating without being a bit generous, but in this case I don't have to be generous. this is really a 5-star evaluation site. the price is reasonable and this is reflected in the size of the drank. large but not too large and very fillable. the selection was good overall for lunch and tea and coffee selection was then expected to be bigger. simply note that no alcohol is served here, but is not needed, as the environment is excellent and the ethos of the caffe supports. eating was great and the selection of meat and vegan food was good. the face of the children on the sight of the child afternoon was one of the excitement, especially when you see the size of the cake. the burgerpatties were thin, but wide, homemade, like all food, cooked in a juicy juicy condition. the nuggets were diceed chicken pieces so quality from the beginning, batter was slightly spiced and cooked for perfection. not greasy or soggy or too much for the meat. best nuggets I've ever had. if they like cake and coffee, this is also the place for them with the sizes of the cake portions they will take a few home, and it is worth it. as they can say, we really enjoyed eating and put in a place that is modern with a classic touch that I felt relaxed and that eating fits the venue."
