"Just had the seafood platter for two and were pleasantly surprised! It’s a long time since we’ve had a good pub meal. Lots to enjoy, smoked salmon, hot smoked salmon, pickled herrings, prawns, smoked mussels, delicious langoustines, breaded scallops freshly battered fish, monkfish and a couple of other things I’ve forgotten, served with a fresh salad and three accompanying sauces we ordered chunky chips as a side but not really necessary. The only fault I could find was that I had to ask for lemon it wasn’t on the platter. Presentation and service all very good. If I were to have this again I might ask for the cold elements to be served first to have for a starter followed by the hot fish for the main. Wine menu not extensive, however our choice was a NZ white was extremely good. The place was very busy for a Tuesday however the service was not compromised, staff pleasant and competent. Not much to fault, lots to compliment which certainly makes a nice change!"

I stopped off here for a lunchtime snack on a hot, sunny day. I was made to feel most welcome and sat outside with my dog.

We had dinner here on a Monday night the Braised beef with mash and veg and the Buffalo burger with chips. Both dishes were delicious and we washed them down with pints of draught Stella 4%. Service was excellent and the restaurant is pretty and spotless. View menu

Excellent seafood at this restaurant. We booked our choice of mains in advance and they did not disappoint scampi and breaded scallops highly recommend both. The staff were very friendly and we had a warm welcome. We had a table outside as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant and they gave our dog a couple of treats.

We were staying at the campsite so walked along to the only pub within walking distance expecting a nice atmosphere. It was not dog friendly which I was so disappointed with. So we had to sit outside with the midges. Order two drinks, cider from a bottle was fine however the pint of Tennets was flat as anything. Left within 5/10 mins rather disappointed.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
