"We have stayed at the Hand a few times but usually eaten elsewhere as the grill type menu doesn't really suit us but they have a new chef and the new menu looked interesting. To start I had the wild mushrooms on toast which was good but I thought missed a bit of excitement, my partner had the prawn starter which was good. For main course I had the goan chicken curry served with rice and naan which was tasty but a little too salty for me. My parner had the steak and ale pie which was very good with excellent chips. I was quite full but decided I could manage the white chocolate creme brulee which was one of the best creme brulees I had ever had. My parter had the lemon tart which came with a raspberry sorbet which he said was the best bit. A big disappointment was no wine list which I think is not good for a restaurant of this quality. The choice on the menu is quite varied and interesting and I would probably give it another go (hopefully the new chef will change the choice from time to time) but I would expect a serious choice of wines next time"

We had a sunday roast and a veggie cannelloni which we're both excellent, when we visited The Hand Hotel this weekend. The beer garden is very nice, they had a cracking pale ale on cask and the staff are all very friendly... Would recommend.

We dropped in to the coffee shop and took a seat next to the fireplace. We were quickl;y served and toasted teacakes were served in style. Very comfortable seating. Prices were reasonable and the staff were more friendly than is often the case.

I booked to celebrate my husband's birthday with all the family for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and our meals and drinks were served efficiently. The food was very nice and generous portions. It was a relaxed atmosphere and we all enjoyed it.

Something between pub and snack, gloomy and cosy in the main building, in the back of the covered courtyard. Many local audiences, but you are also set up for tourists. Food is average for British conditions. Nix dolles, but also not for moaning. It's okay to recover the tired treters and refuel energy, but a destination isn't eating. View menu

We popped in for lunch after visiting the castle. Very friendly and helpful staff. My fish and chips were just excellent, the batter the nicest I have had for a very long time. My wife's meal was presented without two items but that was quickly resolved with ample apologies. Overall a delightful visit and I would have no hesitation in going back

This old hotel dating from 1610 is in the middle of the village, so easy walking to the various points of interest. Comfortable, popular place we had a nice room and bathroom all very clean. We arrived in the evening and ordered food which was quick and delicious. The breakfast was also very quick and piping hot. I recommend this hotel and will be coming back to see the rest of the sights

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant with one of the best vegetarian meals. The vegetarian wellington was outstanding with its flaky crust and savory mushroom filling. The fresh carrots were also delicious. As for dessert, both my berry apple crumble with custard and my husband's butterscotch pudding with honeycomb ice cream were fantastic. We wanted to try more options, but we decided to just have one dessert each to show restraint. View menu

Today we had Sunday lunch on 30/7/23. Out of the four of us, three had starters which we all really enjoyed. We then had four beef dinners, and we all agreed that the dinner was delicious. The only criticism was that there should have been more variety of vegetables and a few more potatoes for the price. However, we did mention that the Sunday lunch was lovely! Additionally, the restaurant catered to my needs as I am currently in a wheelchair.

We brought our friends from Staffordshire to Hand Hotel on Tuesday 24th October. We had recommended the hotel to them, but unfortunately, while the food was decent, the service was lacking. Our waitress was quite miserable and unfriendly. The atmosphere was lacking positivity, with chandelier lights being turned off near our table. Our table was also too close to a decorative shelf unit, causing a vase to nearly fall off. The decor seemed tired and overall, it was not a great experience. We would rate it 3 stars.
