"My hubby and I went to this venue for a midweek lunch and it was amazing. We had a ciabatta each which came with an amazing salad and we ordered chips as a side. These too were fresh, hand cut, well seasoned and absolutely divine. On the basis of that we booked a family lunch for five of us which we had today. I was a little disappointed if I 'm honest. Our party included my mother who is in her 70 's and now generally eats 1 small meal per day. When ordering we asked if we could order a child 's portion for her as it seems such a waste to order food that is definitely not going to get eaten. We were told I 'll ask but he doesn 't like to do that, he says if it 's an adult they have to have an adult meal. OK fair enough so we ordered 4 starters and 5 roasts. The starters arrived and were to die for. Absolutely amazing! Plates were cleared in record time! Not so the main courses, I had beef which was tender in places but was also very sinewy, contained lots of arteries and inedible bits. However the guy on the next table also had beef and his looked amazing. Also on the plate was a Yorkshire pudding which was not very crisp and tasted like it had been reheated but was not awful just a bit disappointing. There was lots of things on the plate which the kids weren 't keen on such a braised red cabbage and sweet potato mash. I can 't say the meal was horrible because it absolutely wasn 't but after the excellent lunch and starters we enjoyed it wasn 't what we expected. We were disappointed. The lady behind the bar knocked the cost of one of the kids meals from the bill as compensation. However, given that the prices for any of the Sunday menu aren 't displayed we were none the wiser."

I was gigging at this place as a mobile DJ. Whilst waiting to start we ordered pizza with a side of chips. It was perfect. If passing I would most definitely pop in for lunch. Staff are of the old style of nothing is too much trouble.

I went to this restaurant for a family dinner with 8 people, without knowing anything about it beforehand. The ambiance was really cozy and the service was top-notch; our server was extremely helpful and patient. The food was excellent, well-presented, and the portion sizes were generous. The pub was very clean and we will definitely be returning.

We visited as a large group for Sunday lunch and it was the best roast I've had in a very long time. I understand the pub is under newish management and they really know what they are doing. Beef and roasties were cooked to perfection and everything tasted fresh and home made. The service was lovely too and we all agreed we would definitely be going back.

We have visited the Lion twice over the last few weeks, (after a very long time), we were not disappointed, we were greeted by freindly staff, made to feel very welcome, the food was good and hearty portions went down well, the Chef and staff took care of our requests brilliantly, and we will definitely be calling back as much as we can especially on one of their event nights.

I have been going to the lion for 33 years The last owner neglected the pub which was sad to see but this year it has had new refurbishment inside and out. It is warm and cosy and the kids area my nephew loves. The new owners are really passionate and you can see how much work they have put in turning it round. The atmosphere is fantastic. I have not eaten here yet but I hear when people have finished there meals how lovely they are

The atmosphere at the restaurant was very pleasant, the staff were friendly, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The restaurant was quite busy, so we had to wait a while for our order. My friend ordered potato and leek soup while I ordered baked cod. The soup was thick and unappetizing. My friend complained and they acknowledged it was too thick, but still served it. They let her order some fries instead. I didn't complain about my dry and tasteless cod, which was supposed to come with asparagus but came with green beans instead. When they cleared the plates, they refunded my friend and apologized. I don't think we'll be returning to this restaurant for food.

Despite it being lunchtime, we were given the option to choose from both the lunch and dinner menus. I decided to go with the ploughman’s, and I was not disappointed. For just £10, I received three different types of cheese, a pork pie, a generous portion of real ham, pickle, coleslaw, pickled onions, a warm mini baguette, and a salad garnish. It was great value for money. My wife opted for the cod goujon sandwich, which was filled with plenty of fish and cooked to perfection. This is the kind of pub food that we love - delicious, honest, and affordable. To top off our enjoyable lunch, there was a wide selection of beers to choose from. Unfortunately, I was driving so I couldn't sample them...

"we wanted to visit the midlands and family for the first time since Christmas and in the frame of the visit I decided that we would take my mother for a nice Sunday dinner. she lives in telford and I am not familiar with the contrary so that I am on tripadvisor for ideas. I mean, I was looking for restaurants in Telford and sorted by rating; clays of broseley was the best from the list and that was what I booked. it is about a minute drive from my mother place through a beautiful shropshire landscape. we arrived in broseley a little early and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. we were invited to take place on the terrace while they opened and had some drinks. I had a fantastic homemade limonade with glittering water, my mother had a Rhabarb juice that was so delicious that we were strolling home with us and my wife had a very nice pot tee. we had booked a table that had been placed in the restaurant for us, but we were offered the table on the terrace for lunch, which we liked to accept as the weather was perfect. we all ordered from the midday card, which for two courses and for three courses was a fantastic bargain. I ordered salmon and hake meatcakes with delicate brokolli, spargas and a white wine sauce and my wife and mother both ordered the beef Sirloin roast dinner. I was so impressed with eating. honestly, this restaurant lives up to all reviews. the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not refined as they get some places. to dessert my mother and I both had the rhubarb and custard' and playful plate that rhubarb compott, gelee, vanilla cream and small mygues combined crazy. the perfect end for every afternoon. during the meal were the employees (I'm sorry to say that I didn't get their names) attentive and friendly. our month old sohn, henry, has a stinking cold and has teethed, so was not on his best behavior, but the staff was fantastic with him. They even went so far that they broke out one of their dogs, a beautiful, huge dog called barney, for henry's entertainment. to cover everything, and this is great for parents of small children, they had a full baby change unit, complete with diapers, wipes and unhappy bags! I can honestly say I've never seen this before. all in all, for three nets, two desserts and drinks, the bill came less than unnecessary to say, I intend to visit again when we are close. I really can't wait."
