"A rare gem that not only you can visit by the modern day car, but by river with simple access via a floating jetty. Whether you paddle board or simply walk, The Locks is a place your welcome aboard. Recently bought by the community, this pub is of the future generations but historically stamped. We hope other pubs and community follow suit and the demise of endless franchises is a dream that comes true. Wonderful menu, food and staff. Absolutely beautiful building with real character and Suffolk charm. We are proud to be a part of a community staking and leading the way of the British pub culture. Tip top."

The food is really quite poor which is a shame. Staff aren't great either. The setting is brilliant which is the only saving grace.

Went here over the Bank Holiday weekend when they were holding a sausage and cider event with live music. Great beer and cider, great music and fabulous service, especially considering how busy it was. Very friendly staff, lots of space. Even a river nearby to swim in if you wanted.

Ordered with a friendly lady at the bar. The burger I ordered was very dry burnt it had so much fat in it too big balls of white hard bits. The bun was dry tasted powdery. Also very weird you can buy a burger it doesn't come with anything but coleslaw?! Way too expensive for what it is! View menu

We pulled up to this charming neighborhood pub in our kayak. It was easy to dock. The pub had a spacious garden. We savored a delicious chilli and cheese burger with thick cut chips. Afterwards, we played a game of bar billiards before heading back out on the water. It was a wonderful evening.

Paddled here for a light lunch and a pint. Good selection of ales and food excellent however.. the service was absolutely outstanding. The waitress was on it. Such a breath of fresh air these days. Can't wait to return. If you're kayaking or canoeing, there is a custom pontoon and kayak parking.

After my food I went for a lovely walk recommend by a cheerful group of teens by the river enjoying the sun, on my way back from the walk I came across the same group group being aggressively shouted at by the owner calling them “c**ts” and “w**kers” repeatedly. They seemed very threaten and scared it was not a nice environment to see at a “community pub”. I will definitely not be coming back. View menu

The restaurant serves high-quality pub lunches that are delivered quickly, hot, and delicious. They offer a wide variety of ales (Green Jack) and ciders. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean, and the location is perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, or walking. Overall, this community pub is highly recommended and seems to be a popular spot for many people based on my experience having lunch there on a Thursday.

This restaurant is a hidden gem located down a picturesque lane, offering a unique dining experience. You can even arrive by boat. Our group tried a variety of dishes, including vegetarian chili chips, coconut dahl, scampi, and cheesy fries, all of which were cooked to perfection and served promptly. The drinks were reasonably priced with a wide selection available. We have visited during both the summer, enjoying the beautiful garden seating, and winter, cozying up by the fire. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
