"We visited The New Inn Rockland St Mary on 7th July for a bithday evening meal. We've been visiting during our summer holidays for a number of years. It was a warm evening and the outside area was packed. We sat inside which was airy and comfortable. The food was delicious, the service was second to none as always and their prices are very reasonable. The Inn is a village focal point for residents, boaters and holiday makers and is highly recommended. We were sorry to hear that the current landlord/landlady are retiring later this year after nine years. We wish them well for the future and thank them for making our holidays a nostalgic visit every year."

What a charming restaurant! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating to my 1-year-old son, making us feel right at home. The food was outstanding, and we will definitely be coming back again in the future. View menu

We visited this evening for a meal with our toddler. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. We both had different burgers. They were filling so we had no room for dessert but wished we did. They had a high chair for our toddler and welcomed us all.

I gave the food five stars, but my group did not actually eat at this restaurant. I did not want to lower the rating because everything else was fantastic. If you are in the area of the broads and do not stop by this pub, you are missing out. The Nightingale beer was excellent, and the staff were very friendly.

I have had two meals here and I must say I have not been disappointed. The fish and chips were lovely, thin crispy golden batter fish, light and fluffy chips and peas with a good dollop of tartare sauce. The Sunday roast is what I call a “good honest roast” no frills just home cooked. Not this fancy stack up veg and a spoonful of gravy. As for price both are value for money. View menu

This charming little pub is located in the heart of the village, at the end of Rockland Broad. There are around 8 free moorings nearby, making it a perfect spot for an overnight stay. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. There is a lovely outdoor seating area for enjoying summer evenings. I will definitely be returning to this pub.

Called in on our boat for the 1st visit to this pub. Scampi very crunchy, little filling. Fish n chips my Dad said the best he can remember at a pub. Pulled pork burger just as expected and didn’t disappoint. Dad is 86 so wanted a small portion. Bar staff arranged a child’s size portion which was perfect for him and he was grateful for the flexibility. Very hospitable staff. Music playing started with Dolly Parton and ended with Nirvava. Perhaps a differing appetite was feeding the jukebox? Furnishings basic and not particularly homely in terms of seating, tables, decor but a pleasant place and friendly staff. I’d go back.

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
