"We made a reservation on July 29th for a meal, but the dining experience was very disappointing. Both my friend and I chose from the special board. I ordered the goat dish and she chose the duck. The goat was very tough, with lots of gristle, although the flavor was decent. My friend's duck was also very chewy and difficult to cut. We may return to Carmel, but only for drinks at the Pig and Whistle. I will say that the service was good and the staff were friendly, so no complaints there."

The Pig and Whistle provides excellent food and friendly, efficient service. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that I would highly recommend for an evening out or a casual meal. Despite our online booking not being processed, the staff managed to find us a table and made us feel very welcome, even during a busy night.

We arrived in pouring rain but the cosy bar with fire lit and welcome from the staff very soon put us at ease.Our table was available exactly as arranged and we opted for three courses as the Sticky Toffee Pudding could not be refused when in Cartmel. The quality of all the dishes was excellent and we hope to return as soon as possible.
