"I don't even know where to begin with this review! We had booked The Rathskeller for our annual Christmas Party well in advance and pre-ordered our menu choices as instructed. We arrived at 6:50, but some of our party members were running late. The staff asked us how long they would be and we happily waited for them to arrive. Starters began to arrive, but we were still waiting on some more. After 10 minutes passed, we inquired about the missing starters, only to be told that they were all served. We disagreed and showed the staff our order that we had brought with us. Finally, the rest of our starters arrived, but some of them were incorrect. One member of our party ordered the Crayfish cocktail, only to find that the crayfish was still frozen. The bottle of white wine we ordered was served warm. When our mains arrived, we asked for salt and pepper, but were given sachets on a plate in the middle. We requested salt and pepper grinders instead. Unfortunately, most of our vegetables were overcooked, and my carrots were old, white, and wrinkly. The desserts were okay, but the vegan option was tasteless and watery. We proceeded to the lower floor for the entertainment that was included in our package. The DJ was playing more background music than dance music, but it was nice to be able to talk. As the night went on and people became livelier, one of our team members requested a song from the DJ, who rudely brushed her off. His girlfriend then got involved and tried to start a fight outside. In a shocking turn of events, a staff member while working, forcefully pushed one of our team members as she was leaving, causing her to almost fall to the floor. We had to catch her to prevent her from hitting her head. As a result, we were all asked to leave, along with other parties in attendance. Another party also commented on the unprofessionalism of the DJ and his girlfriend, who had been causing problems all night. One waitress kept apologizing to us and agreed that the DJ and his girlfriend were a joke. The DJ's behavior was incredibly unprofessional and his girlfriend's drama only added to the embarrassment of the evening. Overall, this was the worst Christmas party we have ever attended. It was a complete waste of money and it was clear that they were trying to take advantage of the holiday season. Who expects to be assaulted by a staff member at a Christmas party?! We will never be returning."

Had only one revenge. Looks very nice. Very modern. Various music for most people. Drinks are very reasonable prices.

I wouldn’t even star it, it was that bad. Prawns were so cold only just defrosted. Fish had one mouthful and couldn’t eat anymore. It was a Christmas party night, an atmosphere was awful, left early. I will never go again

I never expect a lot food wise with a works Christmas party but this year I was pleasantly surprised. The choice of courses was good and main meal of traditional turkey was lovely! The Bar was busy but the staff were still very attentive getting us extra sauces and gravy. An extra bonus was that there was live music on once we had finished our meal which was really good. All in all one of the best Christmas parties we've had locally.

I attended a Christmas party with my coworkers at this restaurant and it was by far the worst meal I have ever had. The turkey main dish had very few vegetables, which were overcooked, and the meal itself was served cold. The rice pudding I ordered was also terrible. The atmosphere was unpleasant, with grumpy and unhappy staff members who appeared as though they were dressed for a trip to the skate park in casual clothing and sneakers. Several of us voiced our complaints to the staff, who simply grunted at us. I also reached out via email to address my concerns, but have not received a response. It is disheartening to see a business taking money from customers during such challenging times w...

I realise its tricky serving a group of 20 people, but this was one of the worst Christmas meals I have attended. The quantities were very meagre (one slice f smoked salmon for the starter and the smallest ever posset you are likely to see for pudding! but the worst issues were the fact a lot of the meals arrived cold (the roasts had to be sent back to be microwaved to a luke warm state and several people weren't brought their main course at all. At least when it arrived it was warm, but most people had finished their mains when mine arrived. ...and it had to be requested- the waitress staff didnt even realise or check everyone had a plate! Very disappointing and definitely wont be visiting...

I attended the worst Christmas party night I have ever been to on 2/12/23. The starter was a prawn cocktail with a bit of chopped iceberg lettuce and a couple of spoonfuls of prawn cocktail, with no bread on my plate and only one triangle of bread. The main course was beef that was so tough I couldn't eat it, lukewarm mash, overcooked vegetables, and a Yorkshire pudding that was definitely not homemade. I was glad I didn't have dessert. The bar, if you could call it that, was in a corner with no atmosphere. Downstairs, the music was rubbish and there was no atmosphere there either. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. I accidentally left a birthday present there and couldn't call until W...

"My wife and I stayed here for a few days to celebrate my birthday. We chose Titchwell Manor due to its location on the A149. From here we can catch the Coasthopper up or down the coast. The bus stops are 100 metres outside the hotel. We were greeted in the car park and shown to our room behind the hotel. We had Basil number 21. It is a large comfortable room, with walk in shower and the fluffiest towels we have ever had. The room was very well heated and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was served from a civilised 8am. The plate of fresh fruit was really good. If you choose to have you eggs poached they will be the most perfect you will ever have with their lovely orange yokes. The rest of the components were equally good and served with leaf tea or great coffee. The bars each had a lovely roaring log fire, where we enjoyed a drink before our meal. The menu choices we made were ham hock, brioche piccalilli and burnt apple purée followed by venison, Jerusalem artichoke and rainbow kale. The other choice was marinated beetroot, basil pesto and goats cheese cream followed by salt baked celeriac, sage and onion with crispy kale. Both meals were outstanding. The venison was very tender and the celeriac was outstanding. On the basis of this dish, a very under stated vegetable. Service was very good and served at a speed we dictated without the continual pestering we have experienced elsewhere. We will definitely come back here as the whole stay was a great experience."
