Great little friendly pub close to the beach. Used by locals with a skittle Alley outside where a match taking place. This didn't detract from the service provided. The food was very good service efficient and friendly. No rush for the table. A really nice, relaxing evening.

Visited with a large group of families for lunch. Fantastic warm welcome and friendly service and things to do for the kids including bowling alley outside. Really tasty food particularly recommend the moules and the nachos with vibrant hand made salsa and guacamole. Top place.

First visit. Match Day. Obviously a busy lunchtime. Staff were very good when the pub was so very lively. Really enjoyed the delicious Sunday pork roast lunch which arrived promptly. Came as a group of 19. Toni was so accommodating to us all, seated us in the garden and made sure the skittle alley was set up for us. Food was delicious, reasonable prices and my son (who had the mussels) said it was the best he’d ever tasted. A great day, fantastic food and brilliant hosts!

My husband and I stopped at THE RISING SUN in the village of Kingsdown Kent after a nice walk around the area, for lunch. It was our first visit to this lovely old pub, but we will definitely go there again. The food was perfect, service good, prices reasonable, and the atmosphere welcoming and friendly.

A large group of us went for Sunday lunch. It was a fabulous roast, all well cooked and lots of gravy but the puddings were not good at all; the brownie was dry chocolate cake and the pavlova was a supermarket meringue nest with squirty cream and berries, just awful and such a shame after such a good roast. My friend Mark and I decided to go for the pork chop after much deliberation. It was a large and succulent piece of meat , covering half the plate. The chefs sauce was to die for. Clearly these owners go for quality local butchers and it was so tender. We even over heard the German couple on another table state the fillet stake was the best they had tasted and fantastic value. Pound for pound the best steak they’d ever had. !! Well worth a visit. !!!

A bit grubby. A free house with just one Fullers ale. One of the menu options was homemade Scotch Egg and an option for the same with chips. We ordered a Scotch Egg and two fish chips as we didn’t trust the look of the food coming out. We asked to get the Scotch Egg first for us to share. The kitchen refused to serve the Scotch Egg first as that would constitute a starter and they don’t do starters. Plus they were out of fish chips. We decided that anywhere who found putting a Scotch Egg on a plate too much to contemplate isn’t a venue for us and we left.

Visited this time last year after checking on their website that they did food. It said they did but when I got there they said they wasn’t doing food at that current time and they hadn’t got around to updating their website. Back in the area now and checked their website again. Looked like its had a revamp and said that it was open from 2pm and that they served food from 2:30pm. When I got there at 2:40pm it was shut and the sign outside said it wasn’t open until 4pm. So so frustrating. Can’t do the very basics of keeping their website up to date and keeping potential customers informed of when they are open and serving food. Pathetic. View menu
