"I went to shy horse for the first time today. it is a really nice pub that has a separate vegan menu with a series of great options. I have suppe and brot, a side and a tee for under 10. the portions were modest but tasty. I think the pub is in the possession of a chain, but I would not have guessed it from the food that is obviously fresh in the house (especially not given a chain-layed.) the staff were all very friendly and helpful (and did not look at me even if I wasn't exactly fit in my muddy jeans and hoody. I worked with dogs and had forgotten my lunch this morning, I would recommend it and will go back happy."

Changed a lot and all for the better In the last year. Haven't been for some time but really pleased I did. A friend recommended us to go and food was tasty and fresh, and the waitresses were funny and friendly View menu

Well cooked lamb and beef. The lobster and shrimp cocktail was tasty and a good potion. Descent wine list starting at about the mark. Lovely table for three by a roaring log fire. We have been coming here for the past fifteen years and do not intend to break the habit

Our second visit and twice our Sunday lunch was served lukewarm, also all our group orderedApple pie which was heated in a microwave hence soggy pastry and apple filling was warm and cold due to microwave. Also it was a bitterly cold day,we complained about all the drought blowing around the fire doors

I have observed a notable improvement in this restaurant over the past year, which has been a welcomed change. After not visiting for some time, I am glad I decided to return. A friend recommended it to us, and we were delighted by the fresh and delicious food. The service team was also charming and welcoming. View menu

The lamb and beef were cooked to perfection. The lobster and shrimp cocktail was delicious and served in a generous portion. The impressive wine list offers options starting at around GBP15-17. We enjoyed our meal at a cozy table for three near a crackling log fire. As long-time patrons for fifteen years, we have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

"The island was open from 12 noon and our table was reserved for 12.15 pm as we planned to do something else later in the afternoon. However, the food was only just being set out and cooked, so was not ready until well after 12.30 pm. As it happened, this did not matter as our plans changed for the afternoon and so we could relax and spend the afternoon on Ravens Ait watching the world go by. The staff were nice but harried to start with in getting everything ready. Some didn't seem to know what the arrangement regarding the food was, eg whether tea/coffee was included or an extra charge. The food was generally good, but the hot containers did a poor job of keeping the food hot, and we were amongst the first to be served, so not sure how I would have liked eating later and getting a colder meal. The gluten free loaf of bread was a poor relation, gluten free rolls would have been a better option. I was told that gluten free rolls were taken by non g/f customers so that was why they did not have them. rather a lame reason to have a cheap alternative I felt. Also, the variety of cold salads was nothing special, being gluten free, a rice salad should have been included, not just the pasta, and I think there was a couscous but it is not gluten free. Overall, more imagination is required to make this a better eating experience, but of course the location will always attract customers."
