"The campsite and pub are outstanding! They offer fantastic gluten-free ales and a variety of drink options. The chef is truly exceptional, which means a lot coming from someone with coeliac disease. Many places fail to understand that dietary needs can be a matter of necessity rather than preference. As a coeliac, I have no choice, and I was very pleased with the service provided by Chef Gary. I can't comment on the accommodation since I don't believe it's available. However, I'm looking forward to returning to the campsite next year, and I've already reserved a table for sixteen for a Christmas dinner. Plus, it's worth mentioning that the pub is dog-friendly. What more could you ask for?"

Really, great food and attentive staff. Reasonably priced for the area. Very nice litte pub, will be going again whenever we are back up this way. *Correction* i mistook the VAT 20% as service charge that was automatically added to the bill. Now I feel bad that i didnt tip for such good service! Will have to make recompense on our next visit! Hotel highlights: Quiet

This is a wonderful hidden gem! The pub itself is beautiful, and the garden is fantastic—well-maintained and even home to some mini horses and goats! The food was exceptional; I’d say it was the best fish and chips I’ve had in quite some time. All the meals were freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable too. If you're nearby, definitely check it out! View menu

We had a wonderful experience at The Star. The food was first-class and cooked to perfection, all at very reasonable prices. There's a great selection of beers, ciders, and ales, and the menu offers options that go beyond typical pub fare. With such a large variety to choose from, it was hard to decide what to order! The Star is also clean and cozy, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere thanks to the owners. Our two dogs were made to feel truly welcome, which made our visit all the more enjoyable. Thank you!

The steaks and burgers were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and made for a relaxing evening. My only critique is that the steak sauce I ordered was unavailable, but I only found out about this when the food arrived. It would have been helpful to know beforehand, as it was the reason I chose steak in the first place. Additionally, the charge for the sauce was not removed from the bill, but we mentioned it, and they addressed it immediately. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience, and if we're in the area again in the future, we would definitely return. A big thank you to everyone at the Star Inn!

"We first visited this place for Sunday lunch I had booked it as a surprise for my husband ,when I told him the area he wasn’t impressed until we entered the restaurant, then his impressions changedAs you walk in you are shown to a lovely setted area with settees and log fire to sit and order your drink ,then your glasses are taken for you to your table, you are treated properly sir and madam which really makes a change nowadays We as a middle aged couple hate being called guys Which seems to be the norm Back to the mermaids slipper we had appetisers, then lovely home made bread which was delicious, then main course, oh and had to have pudding to get the whole experience the whole time the staff where efficient and polite. So last night valentines my husband had booked to eat here again as we where so impressed , he was very lucky to get in as he got a cancellation the menu was a set menu , which I will add a picture as to much to mention ,the food here is very different, the fish and chips , you automatically think is deep fried ,not this ,it was a lovey cod loin in a sauce with new potato crisps all very nice the menu was done as a scroll with heart ribbon and a fresh red rose to take home the place was packed which says it all . They also donate some proceeds to a charity So if you want a special meal try here I don’t think you will be disappointed,I’m a fussy eater and love the whole experience and your treated as people not a table number Keep up the good work we will be back"
