"Great setting, real unique English style pub. Food and table service let it down. Waiting staff operated at their pace, made us feel guilty for asking for something (water, wine) it was difficult to work out who the staff were in the restaurant. On expressing dissatisfaction (incomplete meal, inedible food) we were told no one else had been unhappy with anything that day, no apology. As other reviews menu items not available at peak time. Food was disappointing potato undercooked, meat tough. Such a shame really wanted it to be special occasion. It really could be an exceptional place. No return for us."

Other than the fact this pub is located in the strangely named Dial Post, its a really great place to head to for a fantastic Sunday roast.

We had another wonderful evening at The Crowns. We took advantage of the Wednesday night specials and enjoyed the consistently delicious fish cakes, served with excellent service from Solena. Thank you once again, and we look forward to returning soon.

Booked for an anniversary celebration. One of the main dishes was unavailable. We ordered a bottle of wine, to then be told it was unavailable. Obviously we then selected a more expensive one. The waiter then said the original one was available. During the meal we had to ask for cutlery 3-4 times. As glasses and plates were used they were not collected by waiting staff. Average food at best.
