"Went last Saturday for an evening meal for 4 adults a child at 18.00ish. Warm, cozy environment was felt. Ordered drinks waited for our meal table to be readied. Once sat, we ordered our food. All adults ordered Scotch egg....to be told chef hasn 't got! Our waitress wasn 't advised that there weren 't any eggs in. 15 minutes later, she came back asked what starters we wanted! Twenty minutes passed then our starters finally arrived! Our child had a single sausage mash which was swamped with gravy!! We poured the liquid off.....she 's 4!! 3 adults enjoyed their starters, where mine was 3 prawns in a sauce which was, sadly awful boring! £9.50 for 3 prawns! Then mains arrived 40 minutes after our starters! Fish chips x2, nice but incredibly small portions for £15.50 each. x1 burger, very bland...easily forgettable! Now....the steak! x4 minute slithers of sirloin steak with a small pot of peppercorn sauce.....£27.50!!!!! Waitress was just brilliant (it was her last shift as she was leaving). Our bill came to just over £150 with no desserts!! Felt totally ripped off for the lack lustre quality of food. Shame really....."

Looks nice. Chef did not make the move from Sturry apparently. So the food was not quite the same. Good, but not on par.

You will not be disappointed. Great drink menu with lots of variety and in such a beautiful setting. View menu

The meal at Tyler's Kiln was absolutely incredible and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was beautifully presented and the staff were extremely attentive. I had the pleasure of sharing this special occasion with my Brother and Sister on our Birthday. I would highly recommend Tyler's Kiln to others. Thank you for the chocolates.

Keep an eye out for an excellent new dining spot! We recently enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Tyler's Kiln. We learned that they are now led by award-winning Chef Sam McClurkin. Our thanks to Sam and the entire team for a wonderful meal! Don't forget to try the tofu starter - it was fantastic! And the black garlic risotto was also superb. We will definitely be returning willingly!

I waited eagerly for the Amazing Chef to come back to his restaurant, and the meal he prepared was truly outstanding. Thank you, Sam. It was just what I needed after a long week of work. I love the cozy and warm atmosphere of the place. With Sam in the kitchen and Ellie running the front of house, this restaurant is a hidden gem. I give it a perfect 10/10 rating. Thank you, Ellie, for the flawless service. I am already planning my next visit this month. View menu

Had a fabulous meal today for me and my brother and sisters birthday, me n my brother had beef burger, and triple cooked chunky chips, my dad and sister had cod and chips with dips, all our dishes we’r Absolutely Amazing! We even had a lovely surprise with a Ameretto filled chocolate displayed on a plate with happy birthday scrolled in chic sauce, such a lovely gesture. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the 25 foot Xmas tree outside is out of this world. I highly recommend going to this beautiful pub. We will definitely be going again SOON

Edit: THIS REVIEW RELATES TO KATHTON HOUSE AT TYLERS KILN: January birthdays...always a tough nut to crack. Mid-winter, long nights, short days, post Christmas blues and industrial grade credit card bills make these uphill battles. So, planning a salient birthday party for our daughter and 14 family members just added another whole dimension of challenges. Spoiler alert: Kathton House had it covered and did us proud. Great menu selection (Sunday menu) which was pre-booked just helped to smooth stresses on the day, and the professional service team were slick, helpful and very friendly. The food was on the table on time, in the right place, without delays and the quality was really superb. Fo...

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
