"The Rodney in itself hasn't changed much from the good old days if you're staying for a drink, but the food is absolutely abysmal. 1.30pm had run out of roast dinners, although the kitchen staff didn't realise this until we had ordered, paid and waited 20 minutes. Half the menu wasn't available either in alternative. Should have gone elsewhere at this point as food arrived was a disgrace. 10oz horseshoe gammon was like a slice of bacon, chicken was rubbery and dry and vegetables were cooked within an inch their lives. Everything was bland had very little flavour. One member of our party didn't have a meal at all after returning it, we all would have returned it if we hadn't already waited about an hour for it to arrive and my 2yr old was hungry and board. Appalling, won't be going back for food ever again."

"We thought that we would treat the family to an evening meal here and the food was very good, well presented, tasty and fairly priced, as were the drinks. However, the front of house staff provided a very disappointing standard of service. We waited 35...minutes for our plates to be cleared and then had to ask for the dessert menu. Initially, the team were busy taking selfies, texting or brushing their hair behind the bar. After twenty minutes, I went up to the bar and it was like the Marie Celeste, no sign of life! Another ten minutes, same issue! Eventually, I managed to attract attention before we became fossilized permanent fixtures of this establishment but this was a good meal spoiled. There were only three tables to serve, so goodness knows what it's like when it's busy......"

"Packed at lunchtime that tells you something! Great traditional French menu so really hard to decide, but delicious. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go again soon. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Even on a wet and miserable day this tea room was packed. We only had to wait a minute or two though while the staff cleared a table. There are seats outside (under cover) but I was too cold and wet to consider that! It’s in the very pretty Hollybeck Nursery between Southwell and Oxton. The staff are all super friendly, efficient and work together as a team and the menu is great covers all tastes with hot food, sandwiches, breakfasts etc. You won’t be disappointed here unless of course you can’t get in! Although I noticed some people were given buzzers so presumably they wandered around the nursery until there was a free table."

"a hidden gem in a beautiful environment. the menu changes seasonally and is converted to local ingredients so that not everything is always available. this was also at our visit the case and the cook himself came to discuss possible vegan options for us, which was so beautiful and respectful. while the menu appears simple, they will not be deceived. that was one of the best dishes I've eaten for years. I order a burger with an salate and the whole dish was amazing. the quality of the ingredients is the highest quality and the way the cook was seasoned from this planet. the dessert was just as tasty, the service was very polite and friendly and the prices for such great eating are really fair. if I lived closer, I would like to eat every day in the bistro crew yard."
