"I used to visit The Waldorf occasionally, especially when I had an office on Piccadilly. Then it was closed for a while (refurb' and Covid , however recently I got a surprise gift from the pubco of a round of drinks for six, so as I was intending to meet a group of friends for drinks before Xmas I made a booking. The choice of drinks was limited, but who looks a gift horse in the mouth! The staff were very helpful and things all went off smoothly, despite the pub being very busy (as one would expect on a Friday before Xmas . There were three real ales (the included Doom Bar had all gone (NO alternative offered and the difficult to keep Timothy Taylor Landlord was in excellent condition. There was a short but good menu. Prices were typical of city centre pubs and bars, at just over £5 per pint. Alas, whilst the refurb had significantly improved the pub, muzak, lots of people and a lack of soft surfaces made it nigh impossible to hold a conversation with more than one other person at once, even after we moved to a corner. Reluctantly we moved on to the nearby Hilton (our usual haunt every month or two , so whilst very grateful for the offer, as a promotion it was unsuccessful. We are likely to try again though on a weekday evening in a month or so."

Rude management, beer off, toilet facilities too bad to describe, wanted to eat but saw the uneaten remains on uncleared tables and thankfully passed.

Nice little vibe to the place very homely I decided to try some food. I went for the burning hot burger meal. Came piping hot and certainly did test my taste buds. Thanks to Ian and Justin for your hospitality View menu

We went on a Friday night just before the kitchen closed. Our son was coming from the airport to meet us and was a bit late. They still made him a meal after he arrived. Food and atmosphere was great. Everything you’d want in an English pub.

Nice pub in a pleasant busy location 2 mins walk from Picadilly Station. Decent menu with a nice selection, spotted a customer being served up a Lamb Chop and it was large. Opted for the Chop and I wasn't disappointed, very filling and beautifully presented....

Came in for a quick bite to eat, there is a short menu and went for the standard cheese burger. Good range of beers here which well kept. The menu states you get a free drink with a burger but apparently not in the evening. Burger was fine not alot of chips but it’s a reasonable price would recommend. View menu

Came to visit Manchester from Leeds with my husband and wanted to have a couple of drinks and some lunch when we first arrived. What a cosy gem of a pub we found here! The staff were very friendly at the bar and we both ordered fish and chips which was really amazing. Will definitely recommend to friends for their Manchester visit!

I came here with a friend last week to play chess and at the end of the night a member of staff was carrying stock through an open fire door. (which I would assume is against fire regulations to start with) We had no idea it was a fire door and walked out of it into the street. We were spoken to like dirt as if we had committed the crime of the century. When I pointed out it was a genuine mistake and the door shouldn't be open, the thug seemed to want to create a confrontation. I was going to let it go but I subsequently find out that he complained about us to the chess club we are members of there. So I won't be back. A great shame as I previously left a good review of this pub and spent a...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
