"I made arrangements to meet someone at the White Bear but when I arrived it was closed so I parked at the top of the drive to wait for them to make other arrangements. After a while the owner came out shouting abuse at me and swearing. Not giving me chance to explain I told him that was no way to talk to anyone to which he replied with a load of foul language .I asked who did he think he was talking to to which he told me to move again using more foul language .I can honestly say I have never met a more obnoxious person in my life"

Excellent visit, with great food and good professional service. Will revisit and recommend. Just be careful if parking your car under the trees, car was covered in tree sap after. Picturesque views from the outdoor area.

First, the positives: the food was excellent, the portion sizes were generous, the staff was friendly, there was a good selection of beer, and the surroundings were lovely. Now, for the negatives... there were none! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would highly recommend this place.

After months of exploring local gastropubs and restaurants, we finally discovered one that meets all our expectations. The food was outstanding, and so was the service. As for the vegetarian options, the goat cheese and beetroot wellington was exceptional. Overall, it was a fantastic dinner experience.

Food is OK but rather expensive, a very limited menu on the old-fashioned style of cooking. The place is a little tired looking and the outside seating area is very overgrown and in a poor state, which is a shame because it has fantastic views Parking: The car park is badly overgrown and needs a good tidy up Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

Superb food and service last night but feel it all needs a freshen up especially walls, seating and toilets, hopefully this can be done soon to improve the atmosphere which felt dated and dusty. Nonetheless food couldn't have been fresher and crockery, cutlery and tables were spotless. Thank you to kitchen and service staff. Excellent, will be back. Meal type: Dinner

We discovered The White Bear by chance while traveling from the southwest to the northeast. It was a delightful surprise to find such a wonderful place—welcoming staff, delicious food, excellent wine, and an overall enjoyable atmosphere. It's definitely a welcome break from the usual service station burgers during long drives on the motorway. We'll be sure to visit again!

This small pub has an interior that feels different from its exterior style. The exposed wooden beams and the rustic stone floors give it the charm of an old country pub. Lunch is only served on Sundays, and they are closed on some nights for a few weeks. The menu is diverse and offers great value. The dishes we tried were well prepared and generously portioned. I've passed by this place many times, and it’s definitely worth remembering. I recommend making a reservation if you plan to dine here.

My partner and I started with the Brie wrapped in Parma ham and the Black pudding Scotch egg, followed by the Belly pork and Fillet steak for our main courses. For dessert, we indulged in crème brûlée and chocolate hazelnut parfait. All six dishes were absolutely delightful, and we couldn't have been happier with our selections. We also enjoyed some high-quality wine with our meal. We would wholeheartedly recommend the White Bear, and we will certainly be back! Thank you to everyone at the White Bear!
