"First visit to the White Swan while visiting the area. There is nothing bad to say about this fine pub, so I’ll just give my highlights. Beer. Good choice and well kept. Particular enjoyed the Camden IPA, beautifully chilled on a summers day. Staff. All lovely and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing too much trouble. Food. I had the Sunday roast. Beef delicious, amazing giant yorkie, nice veg, especially the cauliflower cheese. Wife had the red onion and goats cheese pizza. Clearly freshly made, looked and tasted amazing. Chicken burger for the lad, good sized piece of breast meat. No processed rubbish here! Chips got a special mention from him. I think it’s fair to say we’ll be back next time we are down this way!"

I recently enjoyed a fantastic meal at this restaurant. It was so wonderful to indulge in truly homemade dishes. The steak and ale pie with hand-cut chips and the generously sized smoked haddock on creamy mashed potato were absolutely delicious. I couldn't find a single flaw with my meal!

1st visit here and we really enjoyed it Father’s Fay Birthday. The food was delicious. Enjoyed our starters of calamari and bbq chicken wings. Roast, Steak, Chicken Burger, Caesar Salad Children’s Pizza. Really lovely pub, staff were very nice and accommodating. Would definitely come back again. View menu

We received a very warm welcome from the staff as we entered. We both had lamb chops, which were delicious. In fact, we also shared a starter of whitebait lovely and we had a dessert, too. My Eton Mess was delightful and my husband's ice cream was also tasty. Our little dog, Sybil, was made to feel very welcome, too, with her own water bowl and biscuits. Would highly recommend a visit here!

First time at this pub, found the service to be very good and so friendly. Choose that days special which was mushroom and goat cheese quiche, chef came out and explained that as it was just coming out of oven and went through choice of side dishes with us. So glad we choice this dish it was so tasty that had we not been going onto a meeting my friend was thinking of buying another portion to take away.

The woman at the bar who served us was incredibly polite and checked on us regularly to ensure we were satisfied and if we needed anything else. The restaurant was cozy and pleasant. The food was freshly cooked and didn't take too long to arrive, about 20-30 minutes. I particularly enjoyed the chicken and chips with salad, and my wife's lamb chops were also delicious and juicy. Thank you to the chef for preparing such a tasty meal, and to our server for her excellent service. View menu

We have eaten here a couple of times in the past so we decided to eat here again if it wasn't busy. We found that the place was empty so figured that we would not have to wait long for food. We waited just under an hour for our food which was a fish burger with chips and a steak burger with chips. Although the food was plentiful, the fish burger had many big bones in it which suggested to me that the chef had not de boned the fish before battering. It spoiled the enjoyment of the fish burger.

We recently had Sunday lunch at this pub and it was a disappointing experience. The roast potatoes and parsnips were undercooked and very hard, and the Yorkshire puddings were burnt black. The vegetables were so raw that my elderly parents couldn't eat them. I ordered the vegetarian roast and was disappointed to receive only two tiny sausages on my plate, rather than a nut roast. The gravy for the meat dishes tasted bitter and watery, while mine was tasteless. At £15.95 per person, I expect the food to be at least edible. Although the staff were friendly, we have had better meals at this pub in the past and will not be returning.
