"Thank goodness for Fundus, deservedly popular with opera house audiences. We had two good meals after the performances, with swift, pleasant and efficient service. The tables are quite small and close together, but that seems to add to the feeling of enjoyment in a shared...experience. Very tasty homemade pasta, good meat and fish dishes with sensible portions. Strawberries with lemon sorbet to finish delicious. Prices compare favourably with other similar restaurants. A long high table' seems to be reserved for performers... sadly none came when we were there. We would certainly return in future."

We went on a Wednesday for the lunchtime buffet, which was amazing value and really tasty. Excellent service. I could have lived without FHH radio or whatever was being piped through the speakers.

The best (indeed only decent place to eat near the opera house. Not exactly cheap, but the quality is high. Try the tapas to start and then the German specialities. Service is charming and efficient.

The management of this restaurant should be extremely proud of its staff who were all courteous and highly professional. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and delivered swiftly, though not in a hurried fashion.

the place is set up to start many people in, e.g. before the opera. during the midday on a weekday is left in the round and therefore lacks a little ambiente. after said, the service is impeccable, eating a dish with many different small antipasti. like king prawns, fish terrarines, vitello, etc perfect for a light lunch.

We went here for dinner. 7pm on a Saturday and the place is empty. Two waitresses: one friendly and attentive, one very grumpy. The food was also of very variable quality. The wiener schnitzel was delicious--not so dry as in other places and the potato...salad was excellent. Likewise the day special--deer was very good. However, the gnocchi was a total disaster according to all three that ordered that course.

we went to the opera and had dinner before. the restaurant opens quite early, so it is perfectly possible to hurry her dinner in tranquility without hassle or the necessity to hurry. the menu offers local specialties and has a special offer every day. we met a lot of fish that were just perfect. we started with a mix of frankfurter specialties, call it German tapas, which is an ideal starter. the service team is discreet and fast, I felt very comfortable.

Not sure whether to give 3 or 4 stars. The food is ok, but not exceptional. Last time I liked the Hessische tapas a mix of four cold bites (a.o. smoked trout and a boiled egg in green sauce), but my grilled calf's liver was...mediocre. The service qualifies barely as ok not very friendly, not very efficient, but ok. However if you're going to the opera, this is an excellent place for a late night dinner. It will be filled with opera patrons, and often the singers will end the evening there as well.

this is a charming little restaurant located next to the opernhaus. the staff was very nice and has accommodated us in a rectangle, as all the other tables were reserved when the performance was finished. safe enough, in about 15 minutes the place was full. the waiting staff was very friendly and patient with us (american with almost no German) who declare the menu and recommend some local weine. the food was delicious, I had a salvage special and my friend had the carving. we had a nice relaxing dinner in a festive atmosphere.
