"With only one previous (Russian) review, and a rundown, cheap exterior, I was dubious about this place but actually enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. With more subdued lighting, this could be a real winner. I 'm not certain that the waitress or the cooks were...Japanese at all but the table of Germans directly in front of me very much enjoyed the flamboyant, live preparation on the in table grill by the somewhat regally clad chef he knew all the moves, slicing, dicing and flipping the food into the bowls for their delectation. The rest of the restaurant was empty but it 's only Tuesday. My choices opened with lamb on a skewer (and there were other meats to go at, including beef, chicken, prawns, and squid). I smiled when the kimono clad waitress asked if I preferred it cooked medium or German (I opted for the former and it was perfect: succulent and flavoursome). At €4.20 per skewer, I thought one would suffice but really I could have packed away half a dozen. Rather than brave the vague titles of some dishes (or the whirling knives of the live cooking experience), I moved onto mixed sushi. I 'm a big fan and this dish did not disappoint: I could discern salmon, roe and a prawn but some of the nigiri could have been eel or even pike. I believe it was warm chicken maki, though, with cucumber. The inarizushi (a tofu pocket) was large and tough to eat with chopsticks (but I managed). Lashings of gari and a dollop of wasabi were the perfect accompaniment. Not sure about the dog bowl in which it was served, however. I was thinking I might conclude with the baked Japanese banana in honey but, in truth, I 'd had my fill. €33.20 incl a large Coke. Decent meal but not cheap."
