"This cozy, classic pub features charming open coal fires. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive. My partner enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast with succulent roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and fresh vegetables, all expertly prepared and beautifully presented. I opted for a mouth-watering cheeseburger with crispy bacon, chips, and a side salad. We highly recommend this establishment."

Friendly and accommodating, especially as we dropped in without a reservation and with two dogs. Lovely atmosphere with real fires and a great Sunday roast the veg in particular was well above the average and not a bad price. Will definitely return the next time we are in the lakes.

The restaurant has beautiful rooms with lovely views. The food was delicious - I had the gnocchi and my partner had a large burger. We both enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Honestly, it was the best meal we've had in a long time. We will definitely be returning. 5 stars from us.

What a fantastic trip away. Gorgeous place to stay. Can't fault it. We stayed in a beautiful room with our dogs. Views were stunning of the fells. Food was delicious. Breakfast was great and we dined there 2 nights as we were so impressed. Brilliant location for exploring the Lakes. Service was wonderful. Brendan was very helpful. We will definitely be staying again!!

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
