"You in the 1920s and 30s Selfridge's had a rooftop restaurant, which was closed during the Second World War are never reopened. Vintage Salt is a breath of fresh air in both senses of the word. Perched on the top of Selfridge's it commands a rooftop view of London from the West End. Although if the building was slightly higher you would see more, it is nevertheless well worth the experience.Depending on the weather, the roof top slides back, but his sheltered from the elements when necessary. It is casual dining which one would normally experience overseas. The restaurant is fish based, although meat is available too. For a venue in the West End instantly represents good value for money. The cheapest main dish, good old fashion fish and chips, is £15. When one considers that this would cost about £8 in a takeaway, £15 is not expensive. 2 of us had the fish and chips and another had the fish of the day which was a large massive sole cooked in butter for £24; again good value for money. Wine is not expensive for the location, although one can choose to spend a lot more if you wish! The deserts were divine. I would thoroughly recommend the chocolate burger, an interesting desert made of chaux pastry, chocolate, cream and a thin layer of jelly. 2 two course lunch with wine and coffee was around £30 each.We will definitely return."

I visited for a working lunch meeting on Wednesday 2nd December, once you have found the only lift which will take you to the restaurant, the setting is excellent, it is a winter woodland at the minute, I liked the casual set up, I bet is it is great experience in the summer when the roof is removed !, it was very busy but the food arrived within 20 minutes, the prices are good for London, fish chips, burgers etc. only about £15.00 very good size portion. WELL DONE, I will return View menu

A friend ordered vegetarian Tea for us both, which consisted of a three tier cake standThe bottom layer of the Stand had various small pastries, the middle layer had various sandwiches and the top layer had scones a separate plate had pots of strawberry jam and fresh cream to put on the scones. We each chose a different kind of tea brought in separate teapots and we both had a glass of sparkling wine and a jug of water. This is a set afternoon tea which my friend ordered in advance and was very expensive but nice if you can afford it and can treat a friend as my friend did an experience!!!

We popped in as I was keen to see the new restaurant on the roof of Selfridges. We stopped for brunch before a matinee show of Les Mis. We were not disappointed. Poached Eggs were good, fresh juice was lovely, tea was spot on and the chocolate burger (we shared) as we just wanted to try it! WOW! Amazing work of art, all edible chocolate and sweet biscuit but looked just like a burger and chips! You have to see the picture. The 'burger ' was dark chocolate, the 'bun ' was a light biscuit, the 'mayo ' was white chocolate sauce, the 'tomato ' sauce was actually a thin jam and the 'chips ' were cinnamon doughnuts. What a great creation for a dessert/chocolate/sweet lover!

I was treated to a meal at Vintage Salt by my husband for my birthday. We were very lucky to have a rare sunny day to enjoy the rooftop setting. We both enjoyed cocktails (strong! , main courses and desserts. I had the Harissa salmon which was delicious and my husband had the burger which was also good. We both had the banana and brownie sundae for dessert. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel and the service was very good. Our only complaint is that it was very hot and we were sat in full sun. Another couple asked if the shades could be drawn but were told no, so until the cloud came across we were very hot. We had also expected better views across the west end, however the setting was st... View menu

We hadn't booked a table and were grudgingly told we could wait in the bar and there should be a table in 45 minutes, this was not a problem it was a beautiful day and we were happy to sit outside and enjoy a drink while we waited and then waited and waited. Finally my friend went into the restaurant and asked there, we were immediately seated as there were quite a few empty tables at the other end of the restaurant! The service from then on was reasonably good my problem was that all I wanted was water to drink as it was hot and we had been sitting in the sun for a long while and this is served by the glass, hence I spent most of my meal time waiting for my glass to be refilled, surely a jug...

Visited here for a business lunch on a nice warm day which was ideal for this venue being on a terrace in Selfridges. Once we managed to navigate around the store to find the lift that takes you to the restaurant we were very promptly shown our seats. The place was very busy and i thought they had perhaps too many tables which made the space feel tight, but nevertheless the place looked great. Set up like a cornish restaurant on the sea, they have done a great job in setting this up in a department store. We ordered a round of drinks which were fairly quick to arrive along with a few nibbles which they forgot about as they arrived only when we ordered food, for which we went straight for mai...

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
