"The White Horse is a classic pub with a wide selection of drinks. We decided to give it a try while staying nearby. The service was friendly, and I ordered the steak pie with gravy, mashed vegetables. The pie and gravy were tasty, but there wasn't much meat in the pie. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were dense and seemed like they came from a packet. The vegetables were very crunchy, making them difficult to cut. My husband had the fish and chips, which was good. We both had a dessert, which was delicious and addictive. The pub gets very crowded, but overall it's a great place to visit."

Great pub with a good range of beers, wines by the glass and good food. We came for dinner and had two of the grazing platters. Prompt friendly service, and good value. Highly recommended.

We made a reservation for 6:30 pm at a restaurant at noon on September 2nd. When we arrived at 6:25 pm after a 45-minute drive from Ipswich and asked for our table, they seemed confused and did not have a table for us. They did not apologize and instead ignored us, serving others at the bar. It was a terrible experience and we will never visit that restaurant again.

Whilst on a days walk and birdwatching we popped into the White Horse Inn for lunch. Everyone was VERY friendly and helpful, we immediately felt welcomed and relaxed. Our Adnams beers were excellent and we had two lovely lunches. I had really tasty fish chips and my partner had a huge, homemade scotch egg. We heartily recommend the White Horse and will certainly return best lunch out we've had in years! View menu

Nice pub. Good beer. Friendly. We ate there twice. First time was fine. On second occasion, having booked three days in advance, we were given a table a few feet from the door (on a cold, windy evening). The steak and kidney pie was a good size and had good pasty, but little steak and even less kidney (three pieces, none much bigger than a grain of rice). Had it been advertised as a mince pie and priced accordingly it would have been good but advertised as it was, it was a failure.

Whilst staying in the village we called in to this pub one evening and were befriended by some of the locals. The whole ambience of this pub is superb. It is a typical local drinking pub that also serves fantastic meals. The landlady is hospitable and makes you feel at home. We are visiting from South Wales and have been accepted by the community via the pub. If like us you're holidaying this is the place to visit. We have been to this pub 8 days out of our eleven day stay. Thank you Amy and staff.

My husband and I were on a short break in East Anglia staying for a couple of nights in Westleton. We ate one night at the Crown and wanted something a little different on our other night without having to drive. We booked a table at the White Horse and had a very pleasant dinner with great service. Generous portions of good food in a nicely decorated establishment with excellent service. The pub was busy but this didn’t detract from our experience. We will certainly eat here again if staying locally. View menu

We enjoyed our evening meal at the White Horse Inn. We were seated downstairs away from the bar which was perfect for us, with two young children. The children had a huge plate of ham, eggs and peas to share which they tucked into happily. My husband and I had fish and chips, although I asked to have mine grilled rather than battered and fried, which they kindly accommodated. Fresh and tasty. We also had vegetable pakoras as a starter which my husband said was the best thing he tried during our stay in Suffolk. Service was friendly and efficient too.

If you're looking for a place to grab a drink after 8pm, this is not the place for you. Despite the posted opening hours stating they are open until 10pm, when we arrived at 8pm the landlady began turning off the lights and closing up shop. We asked multiple times if they were closing, but the barmaid simply replied that it was not her decision and to ask the landlady. The atmosphere was openly hostile, with no sense of welcome unless you had a dog with you. The locals openly mock and despise this establishment, as we discovered when we went to another pub just a couple of streets over.

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
