"Stunning Japanese restaurant close to South Kensington tube station. The owner is Japanese and they are known for importing ingredients and distributing them to other Japanese restaurants in London so have the best knowledge and understanding of Japanese cuisine. That being said, the menu here is a contemporary take on Japanese food but you can also find classic sushi (both nigiri and sashimi alongside more ‘fun’ dishes like ‘miso cappuccino’ (miso soup with a foam in a stylish teacup and matcha tiramisu for dessert. I love the wagyu rolls as well Compared to their other location just off High Street Kensington (Argyll road I believe? , the atmosphere at Yashin Ocean house is a little livelier and works for both dates or events like a birthday or company party. They also have a very nice bar on one side of the restaurant and a great selection of sake and Japanese whisky’s like the Hibiki brand. My only complaint is not a complaint but a suggestion unless you know this place exists, you would never guess it is a restaurant inside this beautiful heritage building they need a more obvious sign outside otherwise I would have walked past thinking it is a private house or small museum. The interiors inside are a mix of contemporary like exposed brick walls whilst keeping some of the elements of the Victorian building. A very quirky and cool place!"

Yashin Ocean House is one of two Yashin Restaurants in South West London. The restaurant is located between Gloucester Road and South Kensington and the entrance is not obvious to a passer by.

This is our favourite Japanese fusion restaurant. The food is innovative and is consistently excellent, complemented by a good choice of drinks. The waiting service is adequate but the staff sometimes do need to be more attentive.

I had many amazing meal times in london, but rarely is my spirit really blown as it was by yashin ocean house on the last weekend to midday. the Japanese restaurant is located in a fairly easy to miss building with limited signage in the middle of the old brompton road. there is a terrace out there that looks like a nice place for drinking summer.

earlier this week I wrote about my favorite Chinese meal in london and today is the contribution about my favorite Japanese restaurant in london yashin ocean house. this support should go live while I was actually in japan last week, but due to a massive heavy schedule out there I did not get time to write or work as I thought I would (not a bad thing just means that I am a bit behind the posting

I always hate waste, wasting food, wasting money, in general wasting anything unless it is unavoidable. With similar ethos to St John of head to tail eating, Yashin Ocean House's menu is based entirely around fish and seafood offering head to tail dining including every aspect of the fish from roe to flesh to skin. There is even a wonderful display of fish drying in glass cabinets behind the main kitchen area...

Strange place everything is a bit ‘weird’. Parmesan on sushi, balsamic vinegar with soy sauce, miso out of a tea cup. And an interior to match it as well as half the restaurant is funky and finished while the other half is… unfinished. Yet it works. New and unique flavors, high quality sushi, and a cool atmosphere. Food presentation is equally sophisticated and the drinks were good. I spent £50 pp without drinks. The lunch menu is cheaper by the way. Ask your waiter for recommendation. Try the popcorn tempura and grilled aubergine, followed by the Omakase 8.

I dine at yashin quite regular, but while I tend to visit the outpost straight from the kensington high street due to convenientity, it is actually the quieter location down on the old brompton road that I prefer. the quality of food is relatiw on par over both sides. the more airy dining room filled with tons of natural light and the more comprehensive menu means, ocean house holds a light edge with me like with yashin sushi bar, ocean house does not carry a soy sauce policy and each piece sushi and sashimi comes with an aroma component before season that the cook believes will best highlight the nature of the fish. with innovative combinations, from truffle-infused ponzu...read more

Whenever people ask me which are my favourite Japanese restaurants, I always mention Yashin (MMMMM) as one of them. I was therefore very excited when Yashin opened another restaurant called Yashin Ocean House on Old Brompton Road, South Kensington. Just like Yashin, Yashin Ocean House is a modern Japanese restaurant that serves delicious sushi and other Japanese dishes. One of the problems with Yashin has always been that it is quite a small restaurant, which does make it intimate, but means you are sometimes quite squeezed in there, and they have taken this on board and Yashin Ocean House is much bigger and feels different to Yashin. Whilst at Yashin half the seats are around the bar...read...
