We meet friends here with our family and had THE BEST schnitzel and fresh feldsalat I have ever eaten ! Served with a smile and quickly, this restaurant is well known for it's food. Other items are on the menu but this is where you...go in Freiburg for schnitzel. DON'T MISS IT !

we found this local German kitchen restaurant over tripadvisor. it was promising and it looked very authentic and beautiful. the selection was easy when we arrived, carved or gordon bleu. we had chinitzel with swedish kartoffels and salat. this is one of the best meal times I've ever had. I'm back in any case!

We did not eat there... why? We did not have a booking. It was an early Sunday evening, and there was simply no way to get us a table. Beware what looks worn, shabby from the outside is full of life a d buzz inside....I very nearly did not go in... when i did, i saw happy patrons and busy and friendly staff! Go for it, i am sure you will love it!

Zum Ochsen was recommended by our hotel and what a treat it turned out to be. Our waiter was excellent and helped us English folk with our poor attempts at German! The food was plentiful and very tasty. The restaurant was very busy and we...were glad we had booked no room for a dessert as we had the large schnitzel which was huge including the potatoes and salad.

she found it during the walk with our driver, through this city after a lunch and there it was. there were tables placed outside where we were sitting. I had a beer that I rarely drink, as well as sink and. Cheese sandwich delicious! fahrer helped us in order. my enkelin had a burger and fries the best she claims. everyone was very happy with his decisions. the weather was perfect for outdoors they also serve in the interior.

I heard about some friends of it. we called a table for two and booked. book is required! otherwise it is difficult to find a seat. the waitress becomes the or the tellers they have (there is no written menu,) and. they can ask for the specificity of local wine they have. we ordered carved, roasted carrots and potato salad. the food was very good! if you have excess food, you can get an aluminum foil to take the left overlay home! friendly staff and good eating!

We were recommended this restaurant by a local as the best place to find good German schnitzel in Freiburg. We were lucky to get a table as it was bursting with local Freiburgers tucking into generous portions of excellent food. It really does serve schnitzel...and variations on schnitzel with excellent potatoes on the side so don't make the effort if you want choice or fine dining but for a really filling meal of traditional local food it is excellent. And a local schnapps to finish off is ideal

to ochsen is a typical local restaurant, seating are very rustic and we have shared a long wooden table with other mozens. the choice of meal times is somewhat limited, they do not expect a long à la carte menu. the best choice is either a...carving or a cordon bleu, they seem to be known for it. all beautiful and tasty, all-round dish. the waitresses were on the ball, although the place was quite full, and served with a smile. all in all, not michelin stars, but good eating in a solid rustic environment. will we have come back? yebo.

I have to admit, I am not a huge schnitzel-fan, but I often find myself craving Zum Ochsen's perfectly breaded, and paper thin golden steak. They usually have a couple of other options that your server will list to you once you are seated. You...can usually find seasonal food and game (the dear sausage is great). The portions are massive, so be sure to bring an appetite or order the smaller portion. The schnitzel dish comes with three huge pieces plus whatever side you choose. WARNING: if you decide to share it, they will charge you for the extra plate. Good local wine selection and delicious dessert (I recommend the medley). Best show up with a reservation, though!
